K&N and Flowmasters improve MPG?
Does K&N air filters and Flowmaster exhaust improve gas mileage on the new F150?
|
The K&N shouldnt, but a Flowmaster should improve it just a little bit, probably only 1 mpg.

Yes

claytucc3,
Are you speaking from experience? |
Yes, I have flowmasters and the Volant intake. On my 4.6 and get from 2 to 3 mpg better. The only thing is you have to be aware that if you so this stuff you will want to play with it and keep the exhaust note in the "sweeet" area and therefore consume more fuel. However, if you drive like you did before it will save you fuel.

K&N drop-in replacement filter and Magnaflow catback did nothing to improve MPG on my 5.4 Screw.

Wow, I have a 4.6 and it made a difference. I do however have the whole intake not just the drop in filter. My next purchase is going to be the tuner

The AirRaid and exhaust setup in my sig has helped gas mileage so far and that is with the foot having gained a bit of wait.
|
Yep, when you get a better sounding setup you tend to inherit a heavier foot.

Will let you know
Getting both put on my 2012 5.0 F150.
I currently get 17.8 after 5500 miles box stock. I have a K&N full intake and Flowmaster American thunder with 50 series mufflers on order and should have some comparisons soon. |
Way to bring up an 8 year old thread in the wrong forum...........

No.

No, not really noticeable anyway. I do speak from experience.
I put over 150K miles on my now deceased '04 Lariat 4x4 with the 5.4, K&N and Flowmaster catback. Those were my first two mods when I bought the truck new. I also ran a K&N Cold Air intake for a couple years. (No improvement, just noise). My current replacement '05 gets the same numbers with stock exhaust and a drop in K&N filter. Around 13-15 around town. 16-18 on the highway. The biggest improvement in mpg's I've realized is from using a Superchips Flashpaq programmer. Both the 87 octane performance and the Mileage XS tunes improved my mileage around 2-3 mpgs on average on both my trucks. I can see 16-17 around town and 19-20 on the hwy. |
K&N and a Flowmaster, ah man that takes me back to 2004. That made any truck the bomb back then .
