I too would like a chrome surround with black honeycomb center. Any advice/tips/directions on how you separated the surround and center? I have both grills, but the clips seem to be extremely tight and I have been reluctant to pry too hard. I have seen some other folks wondering the same thing. Seems like this would be a good technical article topic if anyone could supply pictures on a step by step basis.

Thanks

I guess I'm one of the odd ones.... I replaced my FX4 grill with a color surround matched honeycomb grill from the XLT. I felt it looked cleaner.

Now I have a one week old FX4 grill taking up space in my attic.

well, i personally only like the black grille on a lariat truck that is all black .. my truck has the two tone paint, and I think it looks awesome with the matching arizona beige grill ....

I totaly agree...the gold center looks great on a two tone truck....or pretty much any other color but black. My trucks solid black w/black interior and the grille just looked odd on it. I didnt even like the chrome bumpers on it at first (too many years of solid black Dodge Ram Sports I guess) but they have grown on me.

Swapping out the center is a lot easier than I thought it would be. You will HAVE TO bend the "locking tabs" under the clips so you can unsnap the grill from the shell. What I did was bend the tips of the tabs down with pair of needle nose pliers. Then unsnapped the old grill and snap the new one in...then if needed bend the locks back into place (or just leave them out...the center wont come loose if they arent used....the snaps hold the grille in place just fine). The thing I was happy about most was how easy it was to get the grille to line back up with the hood right....it pretty much just lined itself up.
