Volant Intake

I just finished installing the VOLANT intake on my truck. It went together pretty easily the only problem I had was the bolts they supplied were to short. I had to bypass the washers on either side to get them to work until I can go buy some longer ones. The quality is great though. I will post the mileage difference I get compared to the stock setup. Changing my exhaust alone gave me 1 mpg more. The stock muffler is almos tthe size of a 55 gallon drum...lol
Anyway I will post pics tonight.

I didn't get a chance to take the pics but I will do it tommorow. It does have a drone around the same RPM's as my flowmasters but not an annoying amount. I love it.

Looks good! Much better than stock! Thanks for posting the pics!

Question, what bolts into the stock airbox mounts on the intake manifold?

Thanks Bullit,

I am not understading your question though. There are no bolts mounting any of the intake to the actual intake manifold.

Guess I didnt word that right. I can see from the photo that it isnt attached to the intake like the stock air box, but my question was if there is anything to cover the whole where the stock was mounted.

AirRaid attaches mounting brackets to this point. Volant doesnt. But do they replace the empty wholes with anything? Or do you just put the stock bolts back? I cant tell from the picture.

Down here is what I mean...

You know, I am an idiot! I just realized you have a 4.6L, so the stock airbox doesnt mount up there! My good!

Clay sharp looking . I can see that the volant is a true cold air in take . Most of the other's have a open element in the engine compartment. That is not true cold air considering it pull"s warm air also from inside. You have to go all the way out side to get cold air , and this look's like what I will be looking at closely .

Also looks as if this system is quiet like the factory. Some i work with say on the 97 to 03 150's you can take of the silencer they have just outside the fender. They also say it give;s a great boost to the air intake with out a purchase of a aftermarket.

Yeah you are correct blue. I have an 01 stang as well and did much research before I bought the intake kit for that as well. I like the almost fctory look of the Volant and it is quiet until you get on it. Full throttle between the intake and the flows it sounds pretty sweet. On my stang I actuly bought a kit without the box and made one myself with sheet metal and rivets. Between the muffs and the intake I am getting about 2 Mpg better (at least so far with only one tank testing) It looks like the new 5.4's have a plastic intake? that sucks. I was happy when my trucks was metal.

Do you get a noticable power gain with the Volant in normal driving? I'm not talking about hammering the throttle, just driving normal in city driving. I have been pondering the Volant purchase for a few months now.

Yeah, I did feel a SOTP power gain. My truck SUCKS off the line but once it is going it is pretty quick. I guess that is what I get for getting the 4.6 but I got a killer deal on it bieng only 15k miles used I couldn't pass it up.
