Need advice about Dash
Need advice about Dash
When I bought the truck the dash had a scratch on the silver part near the head light switch in the jam. I had the dealer look at it and they said they would take care of it. Well they sprayed it with something the same color but its glossy and a different texture. I said it wasnt acceptable, so they agreed to order a new part. Well after 3 weeks they called and have the part but they said its the whole dash that needs to be replaced. They have the dash and are ready to change it thursday. Im nervous about having them tear apart the whole interior of my truck for this blemish. What do you guys think should I trust them to do the work or just live with it and not open a can of worms??? Im not real confident in there service department. Help!!

Which Dealership are you talking about? I bought mine from a So Cal dealership and there was also a small scratch on the dash. I decided to just live with it (figuring I was going to scratch the dash at some point anyway). I don't trust the dealers service shop either.
If it was a small part, I would have had them change it though.

Have them fix it. It'll be ok. The first day I had my truck a fuse blew and they had to take out the driver seat and pull up the carpet to check the wires. I wasn't happy about that.
THese guys know that if you make them replace a whole dash for a scratch that they're going to have to do it again if they don't get it right. So they should be careful. Just check it over with a fine toothed comb after they do it.

Thanks for the support guys, I feel a little better about leaving it tomorrow. I really wish they would just replace the part they screwed up and not the whole thing. Oh well I will give an update when I get it back.

I worked for Dealer's for nine yr's back in the 80's and 90's . They usually have a regular tech that does some specific work and it all rep to them. I really wouldn't woory any and hey if there is a prob. Get a car from them and make sure it's right. But you should be fine.
being your on the subject.... anybody have advice on what matches the grey type color on the dash? I have a nick on mine, left of the radio on the grey part, right next to the carbon fiber radio trim. Thought of getting something to match it rather than bringing it into the shop. Just wanna get rid of that black color that is left from the grey getting scratched/nicked. ????
Mine had a stain on the darker part above the light switch and the dealer told me about the dash replacement instead of being able to just change the panel. I really didn't like this idea. Afraid of rattles after replacement. The service tech had a guy doing a vinyl reair/dye job on another vehicle and he took a look and said he could fix it. They colored the panel with some kind of dye/paint and it is exactly the same texture and the color matches perfect. You might talk to you service tech and have him check this out with their vendors before they rip out the dash.
