I dont care if it sounds like a nasty bean fart. If it adds good power I am all for it.

Everyone who has gotten in my truck has said that it sounds awesome. My fiancee even likes it, she said it sounds mean. I don't know if something is different about your intake, but mine just sounds damn good. With the amount of increase in power I got, there is NO way I would even think about taking this baby off. Rock on!!

I agree!!! I love the sound and everyone else has too! But it is loud!

Does the air raid sound compare to the K&N system, my brother has it on a chevy and even though its loud it really doesnt produce a drone in the cab like some of you are describing with the air raid.

For normal everyday driving, the airaid produces almost no drone in the cab. The only time you really hear it is when you are somewhat over the half throttle mark. The time when it gets the loudest is when the truck downshifts, as if going for a pass on a car. It is still not too loud, but loud enough to hear. I feel that is sounds great. It is not too loud at cruise, but you know it is there WOT! I love it!

Let me see if I am reading this right .You guys do hear intake noise while cruising at around 60-70 mph just not as loud as heavy acceleration drone.

I'm thinking the difference between the people who think its too loud and the people that think it sounds great is purely personal preference.

A friend of mine at work thinks it's the coolest thing in the world to drive thru the parking lot in his Dodge with a diesel engine in first gear making all kinds of noise. That annoys the crud out of me when he does it when I ride with him. He says my dual exhaust on my F150 is too quiet. I have a wife and kids and like to talk to them sometimes when they ride with me, so my exhaust is perfect to me.

Like I said, it all comes down to personal preference. Just guessing on this part but there might be a coralation between age and noise (sound) tolerence.

I havent actually heard the K&N on the new F150, but I had the KIPK on my 03 5.4L and it was loud, but not as loud as the AirRaid. It didnt have the heat shroud, dont know if that makes a difference in noise or not. I think most of the intakes on the new 3-Valve will all be pretty loud. If you are looking for a queiter one, check the Volant if you are looking for a full intake system, or TrueFlow system and Air Raid Jr if you want an even quieter system that replaces the stock pipeing but keeps the factory air box.

I would agree that the loudness is going to be directly proportional to the age of the driver. If I want a bunch of noise I will take my jeep for a drive down the interstate

What is an Air Raid Jr? Is it just a drop in air filter?

No, it keeps the stock airbox, but replaces the piping to the fender area as well as the filter. Sorry I dont have any pics, but check their site.
