Loud Airaid

I went on my first road trip yesterday after installing my Airaid and I was somewhat disappointed about how loud it was. (The performance improvement is awesome though.
I guess what I am asking is, one, is this normal, and two, can it be made any quieter?
Thanks,
Brently-F150, I have the K&N FIPK "air charger" and mine is the same way. You don't hear it when cruising but the moment you punch it you know it. I guess it's a love it or hate it kind of mod.
Mine is actually more quiet at WOT than at half throttle. It's like there is a certian RMP and engine load that drones badly and it happens to be at highway speed. Driving around town I dont even hear the intake till I punch it.
So do feel like there are "seat of your pants" gains from the AirRaid.
Sounds mostly like a resonance issue and probably something that you cant fix. Are the gains enough to be worth that noise, IYO?
I think anything that can provide enough power increase to feel while driving is worth the noise.
Good luck with it.

I've been pondering this myself. I haven't bought a kit yet, but I had one on my VW.
I'm thinking that wrapping the tube with header tape would help with the sound and also keep the pipe cool. I'm not too sure that would help with perfomance since the filter is sucking in warm air from the cabin.
Just a thought. Hope it helps a bit.

I actually do "feel" the gains. And honestly, for me it's not too loud, more annoying than anything. But the first time it starting droning yesterday I looked over to my wife and she had this "so here we go again" look on here face. My last car was loud and gave her migraines on long trips. She was so happy that we had a quiet, nice riding vehicle to road trip in. Oh well, anyone know how much a good set up earplugs go for?

That's interesting...I installed the airaid and a magnaflow exhaust and had the same problem, I was blaming it on the exhaust. I had an airforce 1 and magnaflow on my 97 and it was awesome. Looks like the airaid might get replaced!
Loud
I have an airraid as well, took it off because the resenance noise was to annoying when cruising on the highway . I have a magnaflow exaust and like it loud but as the others also said it drowns it out. Have had other air intakes and this one is loud , with OD off it goes away , oh well waiting for the air force one .
