Maybe I am just special! But I ordered the intake and tuner at the same time so maybe I got a special deal...

And if you are doing the intake for just gas mileage, I think you will be truly sorry!

So is the Volant any quieter??

I installed the Airaid Jr. kit last week and it is much quiter. Acually produces very little more noise than stock. The "seat of the pants" performance gains are not there like with the full intake, but I can live with that since the truck is quieter and more civil with the Jr kit.

After I hear more feedback on the volant, I may switch to that if it's not too loud!

Thats what I'm waiting for. Just about dropped the hammer and bought the Airraid, but I'll hang in a while longer for the AFO. Troyer has the prototype and is tuning it now. Should be out soon.

There are some other lines on this in the forum While searching for quotes on the Voant, i actually had one dealer try to sell me to a cheaper CAI - so i shot an email to Volant. Volant apparently is having problems, but they said that they will be comming out with one that works by eoy.

Some motors may be different. The guy at 4wheelparts here in town said that the new 5.4's are really loud and they have had several complaints about loud intakes on these motors.

Consider yourself lucky FATHERFORD!
When I had my full intake installed, a friend was riding with me said it sounded like I was running without an intake at all. I'm not some old fart who doesn’t like a good sounding vehicle, my last car was a blown V6 with all kinds of mods and it was still much quieter than my F150.

For my specific situation, when you can't carry on a conversation while cruising down the freeway, it is too loud!

If anyone in the Austin area has a "quiet" Airaid, I'd like to hear so I can decide if it’s the Airaid or my truck...

Many european cars describe the stock airboxes as "air silencers." They're not just designed to hold the air filter, but to muffle all of the intake noise from the eingine. Remove the stock airbox and you will hear all of the engine harmonics. To some of us, it's like Mozart!

FATHERHOOD, correct me if I am wrong, but you have a loud exhaust setup... I would think with that you couldnt even hear your radio, let alone the intake!

Well if you dont like the sound of the Air Raid, dont install there throtle body spacer, cause then your truck will whistle as you step on the gas.

I put mine in and it took a few weeks to get used to the sounds that my truck makes and now i cant even remember what my truck sounded like before and i dont even here the whistlin sound anymore. (MAYBE CAUSE I HAVE TO KEEP MY WINDOWS CLOSED NOW DUE TO THESNOW

There is a trade off for the extra power, my gas mileage isnt as good as a stock truck, but i think its worth it. (if gas prices keep going up, i will have to reconsider everything though.
