04 Lariat 4x2 SCrew

I'm about to buy my 2004 Lariat SuperCrew and have a few questions for ya'll. I'm in Jax, FL area -- dealer is quoting invoice+400 -- is this decent deal at this point?

I'm also going to put my alpine XM/MP3 unit from my 96 explorer in the dash -- do they have kits to make this install look tight? Can I actually get it to talk to the radio control buttons on the wheel?

Looking at a few performance mods -- thinking about the Roush exhaust, K&N air filter, and maybe some interior mods. Any words of advice?

After reading about everyone's probs I'll be checking out the A/C performance, looking for issues at highway speeds, and listening for the rear-end whine. Anything else I should look for b4 putting my hard-earned $ down?

Thanks in advance,
TheKog

Welcome to the board cog-man!

What's the MSRP and price they are offering? 400 over is not a bad deal.

If that alpine is a single-din, you'll need to fab up something to look hella-cool, or get one of those plastic kits. Radio controls will work with the right aftermarket parts... search and you shall recieve!!

Intake/Exhaust is a good start, then get the PCM reflashed or wait for a programmer. Troyer has a sweet-**** stage1 kit that has everything for $1100. Magnaflow is the preferred exhaust 'round these parts. Few guys with Borla's and a strong Flowmaster following as well.

Don't LOOK for issues, your head will create issues that aren't really there. Just test drive it before you buy and make sure its tight and nothing makes loud noises. Odds are you'll get a perfect truck like the other 98-99% of us out there. You will NOT regret the purchase. Go cut the check right now!

I love mine and have yet to have any problems. 8,800 miles Roll of the dice as to if the truck you end up with will have any problems to speak of and if you do, you have this whole forum to help you out. Welcome, now go get your new truck!

that is like my car, I bought at invoice, and got the dealer to give me for free a bed liner (plastic but works), window rain/wind deflector, and bug guard ... one thing for sure, you will not regret the buy ... good luck ..

I have the same configuration truck that you are looking for. For the stereo, the easiest way is to just buy the kits. I bought the Scosche wire harness (FD23B) and the dash kit (FD1424B) from Bnotions . They had the best prices I could find and the kits work great. I also have the Magnaflow on my truck. It is quiet at idle but when you start moving, there is definitely more rumble than stock. It isn't loud and annoying while traveling on the highway either. As far as the truck price quote is concerned, that sounds about right. I would recommend going through fleet to avoid haggling. Hope this is helpful. Enjoy the truck....I enjoy mine.

Also, on the steering wheel controls, you will need the PAC SWI X.

I found it for $40 on buy.com. They are reputable and ship pretty quick.
