They put a rear end in my truck from one off of the lot. My vibration was much better, I consider it acceptable. Have them try a rear end. They think it is most likely the pinion gear, but the dealer is going to try to get the whole rear end and axle.

They put the rearend back in the other truck, and ordered one for mine. They are not supposed to do what they did. If the sales people would have find out they would have freaked. The service department is very good and they just want me to be happy. Attention Ford: Fix these trucks so many of us owners can enjoy our $35,000.00 trucks.

i have had my screw in 6 times so far and they started by saying it was the tires which it wasn't. down loaded the tsb's and went to the service manager they started throught the list and are now at the point of the rearend swap. this is getting old! the question i have is that the vibration that i am feeling fits the listed examples with one hitch. mine seems more noticable when i lower the rear windows. the vibration is there when the windows are up, but it is more noticable and the passangers seat tends to shake more with the windows down. now when the front windows are dropped with the rear windows down the vibration tends to revert back to the window up situation. any insight. it seems that the vibration issues range from slight to major.
i have always owned nissan's but the new ford blows the titan away, but at times i have bad bad thoughts of going towards the light...........ford fix the problem please...........

rgreen,
Looks like we are at the same point. My dealer has gone through all the steps of the TSB and we are at the final step of replacing the rear end. Keep us posted to see if that fix's the vibration.
I noticed the same vibration you are experiencing when the windows are down. I think there was another thread posted in regards to this issue.

I called Ford again the yesterday and they told me that it has been refered to the "Engineers". This should make me feel like something is actually being done............... Well, I will give it 30 days from the last service and try to take it in again before going to the DSB. I am still hopefull that Ford will find a solution. But being hopefull and realistic are sometimes two different things. Either they can fix it or they need to admit they can't and take care of the people that have the problem. The only reason I am holding up on buying all kinds of accessories is because of the vibration.

benb,
Hang in there. We are in the same boat rowing upstream with the vibration issue. The service tech's that are working on my truck have been in contact with the Ford Engineers and they are told to follow the TSB....check for tire issues, shim kit in rear, dampner, new drive shaft, rear end replacement. This is basically the high level steps they follow in trying to solve the elusive vibration issue. Some of the steps mentioned have actually solved the vibration issue for some that post here and folks I have spoken with that have experienced the same problems. I'm at the final and last step of replacing the rear end. If the rear end replacement doesn't work I'm going to be holding discussions on replacing the truck for a new one, however thats not the path I want to take. I would rather have Ford fix my truck.
I'll keep everyone posted. Keep the information coming!

I have been waiting a month for a new driveshaft and i finaly got a call yesterday and was told that my driveshaft has a porduction date of July 19, 2004. I cant believe Ford has no driveshafts for this truck! Are they not building new trucks or building them and just not putting driveshafts in them?

is there a relationship?
I was wondering if anyone thinks there is a relationship between the front end shimmy and the drive shaft balance. I have an extremely annoying steering wheel shake. It got bad after I put on 20" wheels and 275 55's. I'm going to have the shop rebalance (again) the wheels because that is what it feels like. IF not, I'll start in on the front end.
