Damn Shop!

Damn shop!
I took my truck in last Thursday and I still don't have it. Its in the service of Fords for 10k mile maintenance (only at 8k, so its early), fix the temp gauge/air conditionare, new rotors are needed, belts squeeky when started, and some ticking noise or something. Possibly PCM update too.

Last I heard yesterday they just got delivery of some gauges for my truck or something, but they didnt want to rush install so it might be done today...

I like the way they are taking their time on my truck, at least I know they are not going to to rush it and not fix my problems.

But man I miss driving around my truck!!!

I can imagine your frustration............on one hand you want your truck back, on the other you want them to take their time and do a good job.
Not easy to balance...hang in there! You'll be in no time!

Why did you need new rotors at 8,000 miles?

Well my rotor need to be remachined at 4k miles.

I think they might have been defective because I dont break hard, and i havent even taken it off roading.

brake problems on these trucks? Theses trucks have semi-metallic pads, and have really big rotors on them.

I know how you feel, I have had my truck into the dealer on a few occasions now and although I haven't yet had to go without my truck for a day, I can understand why you would be frustrated not having access to your baby If the shop has had it this long, I would hope all of the problems would be resolved and your truck wont have to go back again for a long time

Re your gauges

Make sure the issue with your guages is not the need for a PMC update!!!
Got this from DR NO

This is a bulletin sent to all ford dealers.

17261 2004 F-150 BUILT BEFORE 10/6/2003 - AMBIENT TEMPERATURE READING INACCURATE AND/OR POOR A/C PERFORMANCE
SOME 2004 F-150 VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 10/6/2003 MAY EXHIBIT AN INACCURATE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE READING AND/OR POOR A/C PERFORMANCE. TO SERVICE, REPROGRAM THE PCM TO THE LATEST LEVEL USING WDS B27.10 RELEASE OR HIGHER

Your outside temp.reading may not be correct.
This bulletin is a re program of the computer system.
There is no charge for this.
Hope this helps

Thanks man! I know I printed this out a while ago but I forgot to bring it with me. The guy said PCM updates are mainly only done for engine stuff.

And of course my truck was built on 9/3. Looks like its time for another trip to the dealer.

My dealer knew nothing about the update untill I showed them that printout... they thought they needed a new guage as well... but they did the update and all is well.... GG
