I can't say that the Airaid intakes or the graph are "bogus", but I wouldn't rush out to buy an air intake kit based on it. I haven't yet seen anything that convinces me that the intake kit provides enough performance gains to make it worth buying (for the 5.4L 3v engine). (Emphasis on "yet seen", I may well become convinced at some point.) For some people, simply the different sound of the intake kit makes it worth buying and any performance gains are a bonus. That's fine, too.

It may be that the redesigned stock intake, as "different" as it looks, performs better than on previous model years. I'd love to see an independent test that shows a dyno at stock, then with the air intake (same day/conditions if possible)... I thought about doing this myself, but have put other mods on the priority list that I'd rather save up for.

Troyer Performance is doing testing for AF1 on their intake. I'm hoping that they might make dyno results available when the AF1 is finally released. (While keeping in mind that they will also be selling the product.)

What exactly is the "sound" a new intake makes? How loud and a description would be very helpful.

I certainly don't want to add noise to the refined, quiet cabin of this beast--but do like the idea of increased flow and a few extra horses.

When you hit the gas it sounds like a 4 barrel with the air cleaner off
As soon as you reach speed and cruise the truck is as quiet as always
