schmidty, Does this lift use longer shocks instead of the tower riser looking deals that go above the strut? How tall are the rear blocks?

I'm thinking using this kit with my 2.5" cornfed spacers might be the 6"'s i'm looking for. Just trying to figure out the rear height i'll need.

Truck looks great!

Jason Jones thanks - This is a 6" ProComp Lift on 33's with EVO Rims. The lift, Rims and Tires installed for about $5,800 at my delaer.

If you are looking for a lift this one is right there with the Rancho in my opinion. Ride is VERY smooth.

But I REALLY like what schmidty has done with his and he did it himself!

Shop around and don't take any crap about warranty issues.

Oh I get about 10mpg.

Tim

Thanks again everyone for all the compliments! In response to some of the questions...

- The brakes are BEEFY, and as such, I noticed little if any loss of braking power. I wouldn't really worry about it, even with 35's. But this makes have to share something funny that happened at the end of the install. The last step of the kit install is to bleed the front brakes. Well as you know, leftover brake fluid has to go somewhere during the prcedure. Mine went into my empty Heineken bottle. Lets put it this way, the fluid had the same light golden hue as the beer!!! I still have a sore throat 4 days later!!!)

- The speedo definately has to be off but I don't know by how much. I normally just drive with the flow of traffic and stay out of trouble. However, I am researching for a remedy. Any suggestions?

- The tires are Weld Racing's "Sidewinders" 17X8, 6X135 bolt pattern (a rare pattern indeed).

- I put those Cornfed spacers on my Tacoma in the past so
I know what your talking about. The new shock is simply longer and reuses the OEM coil. I would predict that it would work in combination with your spacers on there too. However, you would need an Add-A-Leaf in the rear to compensate though. Remember that the Rancho kit levels out the trucks front end.

OK, Im having a huge dilema here. After I install the 4" Rancho lift, I want to put on BFG ATKOs. My original plan was to go with 33" tires. But the only tire BFG has is a 285/65/R18 for the 18 inch rims, which is about 32.5" tires. How do you guys think these would look? Or should I start saving for 17" rims and put 35s on it? Thanks, RV

tpeterson!!

I should have read your post better, are you sure those are 33s? Whats the size on the side wall (2??/??/R??) say? If your truck looks that good with a 6" lift and 33's, mine will look fine with a 4".

Fordabbits,

I took my truck up to Humboldt, CA this weekend from San Jose; a six hour drive. All I can say is OUCH. With an average speed of 75MPH I ended up with a dismal 12 MPG average for the trip! I have the BFG AT/KO LT315/70R17's. I hope to regear to 4.10's or 4.56's in the near future along with an intake/exhaust upgrade as well.

Luckily I didn't get scalped at the Indian Casino this trip as I normally do. I walked away with $100, making the gas bill less painful.

I'll be posting some 4 wheeling pix in Eureka, CA sand dunes later today...

Hey Schmidty
I bought the same 17x8 sidewinder wheels you have and will be installing a daystarlift and running a 33x12.50 R17 wheels. How much would you say that the tires you have stick out from the wheel well? from your pictures it only looks like a half inch or so.

thanks dude

Btw the truck looks awesome...

20044BILL-

Yeah! They're awesome rims. Definately get the 4.625" backspacing. This tucks them under the truck as much as the Sidewinders come. There is one other size but it would stick out too far in my opinion. I think the 33's are gonna look nice with that spacer lift. And you'll definately be better off with fuel economy than I.

Thanks for the information Schmiddty. I will check with the dude at 4wheel parts and make sure he orderd the ones with the backspacing you mentioned. I saw your 12mpg post and was like ouch.. We are getting bent over here in northern california for gas, I work in Santa Clara and live in the east bay. I am currently averaging about 16mpg,what were you averaging prior to the lift and bigger wheels??

About the same as you. In Eureka I went to its Costco gas station and paid $2.27 a gallon! Bent over is right!
$80 to fill my tank!

Anybody doing any re-gearing with all the lift kits? If not, how does the truck feel? I'm planning on getting the 4 inch Rancho and I'm thinking about the gearing situation.

seems fine to me with 6inch and 33's, feels good off roading, towing and just hitting the petal. but never really drove a stock f150 yet so i might be off a bit. mine came with 3.73s
