New Trucks

Man oh man, I've been reading and sending comments on this post for close to 9 months now. It seems as if lately when I read the post's it seems to indicate that Ford has not made a single truck yet that someone hasn't found a problem with. I wonder how many people with new 2004 Ford trucks would be perfectly happy with there truck if they weren't convinced they had a problem by reading someones else's troubles. Just my thoughts on what I read here. It has turned from man I love this truck and can't wait for it, to please help me get rid of it. I have bought many vehicles over the past 30 years that were "first year' runs, and some issues can be expected in a small numbers of units. I still think the truck is one of the best trucks I've ever owned, outside of my ol' 66....

Well said carpenter! I've followed many threads here and on other forums that actually said the person didn't realize they had a problem until they had read about it. I guess believing is seeing.

Not everyone has a problem, look how many people view a post compared to how many post a complaint. I myself am at 3k miles and love the truck (no shutters, vibes, stalls, rattles, fail safes, window distortion, warm ac, no nothing...knock on wood). I just wish that Rancho lift was about half the price.

Im with Eddy on this one. I have about 4000 miles on my truck, and knock on wood, so far everything is great. Just remember if you buy something and are happy with it you dont always tell people because thats the way it should be. But if you buy something and it doesnt do what its supposed to, you will tell everybody.

I hear what your saying. Was reading a post this AM and it stated that all the trucks at the lot of his dealer had the rear end howling. If that is the case, I wonder what the salesman tells the customers when they are test driving those howling beasts? Now my ears might be tore up but my truck has never howled. Being a hunter if something starts howling, I'll shoot it.

The way I see it is not alot of noise is made when folks are happy but waves are made when one has an issue. It's the same wheter you go to a basket weaving forum or a truck forum. There are thousands of these trucks on the road and very few folks searching for boards looking for answers regarding there problems. It is unfortunate. There are a few that truely have issues but many that would never have noticed without reading about it on the boards.

16,500 miles and just the litle things that i've had issues with and still need to get fixed after having it for 8 months. Temp display & recirc going off after a couple minutes. Having came out of a XL single cab ranger into a 2004 FX4 Scab makes those problems seem irelevant to the pleasure she brings me.

I think it is important to remember that Ford is currently selling about 80,000 new F150's per month, and only a TINY fraction of those owners are represented in this forum. I think a majority of the owners are happy with their trucks.

Thank you, My truck was bought in Sept. 03 and the only issue was the temp display and dealer took care of that right away with no problem.

I purchased my 04 FX4 in Sept of 2003. No problems. Owned 5 Ford trucks in my lifetime, with no problems.

My '04 FX4 is my 5th Ford truck that I've owned. It's the only one that I've had problems with, but I'm not surprised considering the redesign of a lot of components. The dealership has been very helpful in resolving them.

5000 km's and the only problem I've had is that I spilt engine oil on my back seat and it left a stain........

I love my truck! I have about 2400 miles on it and like others have no problems other than a rear sliding window rattle. By participating in this board, I am able to stay abreast of issues other 150 owners experience and that is a good thing. I need to be careful not to "create" issues that don't exist and guard myself against becoming a "carhypocondriac". I just use this board as another source of information - and to stay on top of things.

Bought mine 10/10/03 and so far no problems. I just took it for a little trip on the highway and the computer says 17.8 mpg for a trip with about 30 miles in town and 180 on the highway...nothing wrong with that
