Aprox build time and Tonneau
Aprox build time and Tonneau
Hi everybody!!
Great site and a great forum. I am really glad i found it.
A couple questions. I ordered a new Lariat on 4/16, it went to Ford on 4/19 and the vin was assigned shortly thereafter. The dealer tells me a 6-8 week wait which sounds reasonable but since i have been reading here i have noticed some people seem to be waiting a little longer. I have read where there is a wait for the leather Captains chairs and we ordered them with the flow through. Its a 4x2 scab 6.5 bed and the only options we ordered were the chairs, two tone black over arizona, and the upgraded stereo.
We are hoping to have the truck for the first weekend in June. Its my wifes B-day plus its the Dover NASCAR race weekend and we wanted to have it to drive down there on Friday.
Does anyone know any aprox build times?? We live in the Philadelphia PA area if that matters.
Regarding Tonneaus, I know everyone has their own personal preference, personally I am leaning towards a hard cover. I want to order it ahead of time so i have it to install right away.
Any suggestions in this dept??
Thanks in advance!!!

Ordered mine the first week in January and it was at the dealer 5 weeks later. This is the second Ford vehicle that I ordered (the first was my wifes Mustang GT Convertable) and they both arrived at the dealer in 5 weeks.
I ordered my truck back on March 17 (6 weeks ago). Due to some ordering problems (I wanted the 5 1/2 bed; after telling the dealer that I would switch to a 6 1/2 to get it quicker, it didn't get ordered for another 2 weeks) I am still waiting on my truck. On a positive note, the order was turned in April 15th and I was assured that my truck was being built this week. I was also promised that I would get it by the middle of may; so in about 2-3 weeks. So, we will just see. I need it to haul my sea doo to the lake this summer, as well as my dad's Cobalt when he is out of town
! Anyway, I hope that helps a little with your question. I wish you better luck on getting your truck!

Thanks for the replies on delivery time!!
Its so tough waiting for it and i wish i could put it out of my mind but I cant. It would probably help if i didnt come to sites like this and drool over everyones gallery
On the other hand, in the week or so since I have found this site(and others) they have been helpful because I have learned a couple things I didnt know before about the '04 F150.
Can anyone give me some feedback on the Tonneau covers?? I really like the look of the hard fiberglass ones but the other day I parked next to a chevy that had an "Extang" and it looked pretty darn good.
Thanks!!

I have the Truxedo lo-pro (Low Profile) on my '04 XLT and really like it. It's been fully water tight so far. The bows roll up with the top so the bed can go from enclosed to open in 15 seconds. The release is inside, so the tailgate can be locked for semi-secure storage. (It is soft, so a knife will always provide an entry point.)
The top is smoth and tight, so it looks like it's in one piece. Also, this model works with bed rails, which I have. And, it's available in several colors, for an extra cost.
Mine came from a local dealer and cost $425. Form my use, it's just what I need and I really like the look. I highly recommend it. Here's their website:

Unfortunately, the best (fit, finish, quality, features) over-the-rail hard tonneau, the SnugLid SL, is not available in the eastern U.S.

I got a Undercover tonneau. It was $609 shipped to the freight company. It's a hard plastic, double lock only comes in black. It is light weight, so very easy to install yourself. Click on the link below and go to the bed and cargo forum and look for undercover a lot of guys have them and love them.
