Unhappy Transmission Malfunction

Leaving the house, the info center told me I had a "transmission malfunction". This was accompanied by the blinking OD light. I shut the truck off and restarted, and it went away. It's going to the dealer to at least get it documented that I had a problem. Reading other posts, if it craps out after 36k, and I have brought it in several times for this, maybe they'll cut me a deal on a new tranny?? That is of course, if there is anything seriously wrong with it.

Getting things documented is always a good idea. Considering your truck is fairly new, if you don't have any problems between now and 40k, it may not buy you much, but it surely won't hurt.

I had it happen twice....bot times I had less than 5K in miles.....the dealer said they couldn't find anything, but would call me if any service bulletins came through. I haven't had a problem in about 6 months.

I do notice that sometimes when i put it into drive from reverse, it takes a couple seconds in engage.....anyone else notice that?

I had an intermittent transmission problem with my Ford van that was very frustrating along with the blinking OD light.. It would never mis-behave at the dealer and there was no code.

The dealer plugged a 'flight recorder' into the computer. When the next malfunction occured, I pressed a button and the code was 'trapped'.

Turns out it was a $69 sensor on the transmission.

I have the 2 second delay when going from drive to reverse also. It's been that way from day one so I assumed it was a characteristic of the new transmission.

I see it sporadically....so that is why my suspicions are woken.
