V10 or Lightning engine in 04 F150

Any one having any idea if a 6.8L V10 would fit in an 04F150 without reengineering everything under the hood?
Or maybe a lightning engine.
My 4.6L is way to weak for me.
I have a blazing yellow STX scab flairside
so I couldn't have gotten it with a 5.4L either

Just a wild guess...you could probably buy a Lightning (using the STX as trade) for the cost of converting your STX.

I bought my blazing yellow scab flairside STX because I like the way it looks.
I don't like the heritage F150 incl the current lightning looks at all. The new concept lightning I think is awesome though.

I doubt the 5.4 would have been enough for you either if you're wanting that much of a hp change. I don't think you're serious about putting a different motor in a brand new truck anyway.

If you have enough money to buy a new V10 or supercharged engine and all the electronics to make it work, then why not wait for the 05 Lightning to come out and trade your STX in on it. They may even make it in yellow?

Why flame the guy? Besides, there won't be another L until 2006. The main problem with the 5.4 L engine would be whether it would fit, obviously. If you have all the electonics, etc, you would 'probably' be good to go. If I were you, I'd wait for a Supercharger kit to come out for the '04 F-150s.

P.S. Can you not get a 5.4 with an STX package in an '04. Just wondering.

I had to check the brochure for that one...
The STX is the only model for the '04 (new style) where the 5.4L 3v is not an available option.

since you have the 4.6 you can probably use any of the previous body style superchargers. that should cost you 4-5k

I talked to Kenne Bell about their supercharger kits and they seem to think that for some reason their 4.6L kit doesn't work on the new ones. (or it has not been tested) most supercharger manufacturers seem to be working on 5.4L kits and not 4.6L kits.

For you guys telling me to buy something else then swapping engines.
I have built cars even from scratch and I have done engine swaps in a little bit of everything. I just think that a new F150 would be way cool with a built V10.
I have looked at a couple of used V10s and they can be had for pretty cheap out there. of course I would go through it completly, balance, port the heads etc.

It still boggles my mind why the 5.4L wasn't available in the STX. Sport truck with a 4.6L, why? It would be pretty cool to have a V10 in the STX, sounds like you know what you are doing, go for it.

now i may be wrong, so please feel free to disagree with me, but would it not be cheaper and easier to buy a truck with a 5.4L 3V engine in it and make it look like an STX (since you liked the way your STX looks) than to swap out engines? i mean, it's not hard to paint a truck and replace some cosmetic items compared to changing engines. you could even supercharge the 5.4L for around $4K if I remember correctly. i don't know what it costs to buy a V10 and fix up all of the electronics to make it work, but it seems to me that it would have a lot more potential for problems than just changing the look of a truck with a 5.4L already installed. just my 2 cents though.

Brew master you have a good point there
repainting one would probably have been a good idea but you would still have to put a supercharger on that 5.4L to get to some really decent power. I guess I have to go to one of the junkyards around and measure a v10 to see if it is physically possible to bolt one in instead of the 4.6L
I think there should be enough space but
I'm not sure of that. From a start I don't know why Ford have not made all options available on the STX, I would have ordered it with a 5.4L if it had been possible, I also would have wanted it with the FX4 dash/floorconsol etc.
