Angry transmission fault on fx4

Ok guys, my bad luck. I was going to home depot to pick up some stuff, when all of a sudden the display on my truck says "trans fault" and the O/D off starts flashing. At this time I feel a bucking in the trans when I change gears. I get it to home depot and shut the truck down. when I get back in the display is reading like normal. I am 5 min. from my house the trans fault light comes back on.

to make a long story short, I called rode side assistence from my house and had it flatbedded to the dealer. it turns out there is a sensor in the trans mission that went bad.

these are the things replaced:

FMC F8AZ 7G276 AA Bulkhead ASY-WIRING
FMC F8AZ 7G276 BA Bulkhead ASY-Solenoid
6 Qt. of Mercon V fluid

they also did a
Automatic Trans. Main Control Valve Body - overhaul.

right now all is working as it should, all this after only 2400 miles.

It is disheartening, but I still think it is the best Trcuk on the road, so I guess I have to live with it.

I'm glad to hear that it was taken care of and that you had the help from the roadside assistance folks.

I think, after what I've read here, that your problem is very isolated and probably another instance of the 'mass manufacturing bug'. That being that anything made in bulk will have an occasional 'dud'. My hunch is that your sensor was one of those duds... or at least I certainly hope that's the case.

Please keep us posted on how the situation progresses (or if it further progresses).

RockPick;

I think you are right. there will always be faulty sensors, harnesses, and other little baubles. it hurts but you get over it the next time you get into your truck and realize it is still a b1tch'n vehicle.

I will keep you posted, hopefully you and I will never hear ov this subject again.

My tranny had a noise and Ford just replaced it. Could be worse.
