5.4 power

I need to know does your 5.4's run really good or do they seem under powered, Mine goes back to the dealership where i bought to trade truck out this is another reason iam returnig it. Mine has the 3.73 and seems slow or it is struggling. I drove another and it seemed to really get up and move. Could the one iam driving have the ecu caliberation be off? Thanks

Well at first i thought mine felt slugish but the more i get use to it/more it breaks in i feel it has lots of power. Everyone that has test driven thought it had plenty of power also.

You really can't judge the power until the motor starts breaking in. With 3000 miles on mine, the power is noticeably improved.

Not to be a party pooper but...

At 6000 miles, my mpg has gone up a bit but my truck is a little more sluggish off the line than it was new. I used to be able to turn the tires over from a dead stop. Now I cannot. It does seems to pull harder from 3500 rpms up. I think my loss of performance may be PCM related and I hope to get this addressed when I take it in for service tomorrow. I still think the 5.4 is a fine motor, just with to much computer intervention.

Mine runs much stronger than my 2002 and 1998 5.4 trucks.
The truck feels really strong when passing, and I can leave black marks on demand from a standstill.

Most likely the elevation. I bought mine in Phoenix (elevation 1000 feet or so), turned tires fine. I drove back to Albuquerque where I live (elevation 5000) and the truck wont spin the tires. Too high up, not enough air. Elevation playes a key role in power delivery.

Mine will bark the tires from a dead stop, no problem. I've even got oversized tires on it. They're a little more agressive thread. Maybe that actually helps them break loose. You've just got to really step on the gas.

I'm very happy with the power of my truck. I smoke cars all the time running around town and it especially pulls when you put it down on the highway.

I've got about 6,000 miles on it now. Honestly, I don't know if the power's increased any since it was new. The mileage has gotten a little better though.

Iam at about 850ft elevation here in OKC and this one won't turn over the tires and its a 3.73. Drove a 3.55 the thing turned the tires and ran like crazy? the 3.73 should put more to the ground than the 3.55 I think some run better than others because. Both of these trucks are not broke in and are using same crappy dealer gas. What gives? glad iam bring mine back going to find one that
