Reg cab 2-wd owners
Any problems to report concerning the ride quality.
I am reading so many posts about shaky, bumpy ride qualities, vibrations etc...
Is it related to 4x4's supercrews/supercabs only or do you have problems too with the regular cab 2-wd.
TIA

Ride
I've got 4,500 miles and the ride is fantastic - except for what I think is the much-reported LS differential shudder. It is not too pronounced but is most noticeable when turning and starting from a stop. I really enjoy the short turning radius and sharp handling of this truck!
I have a reg cab short bed, also notice a rear wheel "bounce" or vibration upon accelerating from a stop and turning. Despite this minor item, I really love this truck. Great ride, accellerates nicely, just all around great truck.
Mine is close to 1,300 miles. I'll have to pay close attention to any wheel hop this week. I haven't noticed any problems with my REG cab shortbed. Short wheelbase trucks are prone to a "rougher" ride, but I swear this truck rides better than my previous trucks (all extended cabs) with longer wheelbase.
However, I keep six 70-pound bags of sand tucked between the wheelwells. I used to do this for traction on previous trucks, but found that it always made those trucks ride so much smoother.
My only complaint is the standard windshield wipre issue - leaves about 4-5 inches of unswept area on the LEFT side.

Oooh didn't know that, I always thought trucks with longer wheelbase would ride "rougher".Thanks for telling me.
I have one on order right now. I have asked quite a few questions about performance but always seem to get vague answers.
So, here goes again. 04 F-150 Short bed Regualr Cab XL
5.4 liter w/ 3.73 Limited slip rear end.
According to Ford my curb weight with me in it and a full tank of gas is around 5300lbs. I weigh 250lbs. Curb weight of the truck standing alone is 4950.
What kind of acceleration and power can I expect out of this truck set-up? Does anybody else have the 5.4 liter or similiar setup? As you can see I am going for power.
My current truck is a 98 extended cab, with the 4.6 liter and 3.08 gears....uugghh!! So, I guess I am curious to know if I will notice a huge difference.
See, I test drove an 04 XLT Lariat extended cab with the 5.4 liter and 3.55 gears and I was not impressed with the power. It seemed as though my 98 with 3.08 gears and a 4.6 could easily keep up with it.
I was however, totally impressed with the ride, handing, and interior of the new truck. The 300hp just didnt seem to jump out at me.

Hellbound, perhaps not hijacking a thread would get you better responses????
No because of the drive by wire you won't notice a BIG difference, but your engine will know the difference as it won't have to struggle as much as the 4.6.... Also alot of the questions you were asking are very subjective that could be why your not getting the direct answers you wanting. But if your looking for the seat of the pants WOW you can tell a difference you won't find it because of the throttle. I am sure you have already been told this but find a truck in the body style and engine you want and take it for a ride.

I only hi-jacked the thread because the thread I started was hi-jacked by some guys story of getting chased by another guy in van who had some huge distaste for new F-150's.
So, I started atleast three threads of this kind which ended up in someone elses story of a totally different subject. So, I figured the only way to get a response was to ask the same question under a topic similiar to mine......which is "reg cab 2 wheel drive owners".
Like I said, I test drove the Lariat extended cab with the 5.4 with 3.55's and it could just maybe outrun my 98 extended cab 4.6 with 3.08's by a little bit.

Get used to it. It happens all the time. But please don't think of it as hijacking. We just get off topic easily. Call it short attention span or whatever, but it certainly isn't malicious.
