I'm Doin' it myself

And therein lies the problem. Next Saturday is installation day for my Westin Chrome Plated Aluminum, Oval Step Bars. They are going on my 2004 SuperCab Lariat XLT. Westin included 4 mounting brackets, 2 per side. I preinspected the underside of the truck yesterday and determined that Ford predrilled (maybe the right word here should be stamped) 3 sets of mounting points per side. My question is, for any member who has the same installed on their Scab, which 2 of the 3 mounting points do I use? I'm of the opinion the 2nd and 3rd from the front. But I also thought Al Gore was a show in. I have emailed this very question to Westin but no response as yet.

Thank You..............gtk

I'm not sure if this will help, but.....

If the oval bars are long enough I would use the 1st & 3rd set of holes. By spreading the supports out the nerf bars will be alot more stable.

just my 2 cents.

when I installed my factory RB's it was obvious what holes to use. Just line them up when you get them, you'll have no problem at all.

:D West Texas Ford: I installed a set of westins on my Scab right after I got it, the wife, you know, she and my daughter were having a hard time getting into a MAN'S truck,so I helped them out. First and third I'm pretty sure,if you put them at 1st & 2nd there would not be enough support toward the rear,I know the instruction's suck, took longer to figure them out than it did to put them on. Hope this helps.

Thanks all who posted replies.

I did end up talking to a techy type person at Westin in California to get the low-down. The official word was.....use the 1st and 3rd set of mounting holes for this series of step bars. My Saturday afternoon project went off without a hitch. The step bars look super. But more importantly, the person to whom I am permanately attached can now assume a more lady like posture when entering and exiting. She's happy, I'm happy!

Back slowly away from the truck, put down any sharp objects and remain calm. You might want to call someone and have them install those for you.

I can understand someone thinking AlGore COULD win. I can sort of understand someone hoping he WOULD win. If I disregard my understanding of the Constitution and how it works with regards to the Electoral College, I can even understand how someone could think that he DID win.

I have no clue how ANYONE could think he was a shoe in...
