Mud Guards

I've looked at a few differnent options on this front and I'm leaning towards the Husky's. Has anyone installed this set?

Should I consider going with a different mud guard?

My truck does not have running boards.

Thanks

Got Huskys a few weeks ago from premiermotoring.com. I'm pleased with the quality and they're doing what they were bought to do.

The installation wasn't bad. It did require drilling on both front and back, although there is a plug in the back fender that serves as one of the holes. Drilling the front wasn't too bad...just turn the tires. I had to pull the rear tires to drill the necessary holes, which added some time to installation.

I don't have any pix in my gallery yet, but they look great. I skipped the 3M protectant tape. I've installed several sets of similar guards on other Fords, and never took them off. Don't plan to on this one either...

Ive put the huskys on my flareside and I like them, but I didnt have to remove the rear tires for install could be because 4WD. The tape goes on the painted surface under the guard to keep it from scratching the paint

I purchased and installed the Huskyliner mud guards behind my front wheels after finding that the Ford mud guards I purchased weren't compatible with the black factory running boards on my truck.

Here's a pic that shows where the screws are:

I think they look good and the install was easy. Like bug892, I didn't affix the 3M protectant tape.

mud guards

I have the 4X4 as well, but I couldn't get the honkin' 18v cordless drill between the tire and wheel well to save my life. Since I don't have a smaller drill, my options were limited...

Besides, I droped the spare and went ahead and rotated the tires while I was at it...

I had no problem with installing them with the wheel moldings on my Lariat. Just be sure to get the ones that say they are for 2004 F150 "w/ wheel lip moldings" (WWLM).

You need to get the ones for the wheel lip molding. No problem with the install on the fronts, just turn the tire. I had to remove rears in install. I noticed that if you want larger tires in the future, there may be a rub issue.

I installed the Ford mud guards shortly after purchasing my truck. I was able to install the front guards by simply turning the front wheels. On the first rear wheel, I removed the wheel to install the guard but on the second rear, I discovered that since I only had to drill through the wheel well trim, I was able to pull the trim clear of the wheel and drill my hole without removing the wheel. Interestingly, the three wheels that I left on during the installation have the tightest fitting guards. I did notice that on the rear flaps, one of the holes didn't line up with the hole in the fender. Rather than drilling new holes in my fender, I drilled a hole in the flap to line up with the existing hole in the fender. Hope this helps.
