04's This Cheap? Hard To Believe

i just heard on the radio one of the local dealers is offering 04's starting at $12,950!!! i find that hard to believe, such an amazing vehicle for such an amazing price. anyone heard of such low prices?

they also said they would beat any competitors' (chevy, toyota, dodge, etc) price of the same type of truck with the same options. im stunned about this. im gonna bother my dad to ditch the camry and go for the 04

i dunno if it would help that the dealer was rated the top ford dealer in the country??

You can fool some of the people all of the time.

Get real: you can't even buy a Ranger for $12,000.00.
I would run away from that dealer as fast as my $38,000.00
04 Lariat will run.

of course they are not selling the supercrew lariat for 12,000. For $12,000 you will get a completly base model truck. Thats is probally only discounting the truck like $3,500

Yeah they tried that kind of ad campaign here.

It's a stripped Heritage (i.e. a 2003 stripped down v6 work truck).

It is NOT the new bodystyle.

Unless they're hot. . .:D

He hit the nail on the head. They say that to get you into the dealership, then you find out that it's the basic model with no options, and half the time, they don't even have it because they "Just sold out"

04 f150 heritage.
4x2 styleside.
6.5 bed.

$20,020.00 msrp.
$17.779.00 invoice.
If you can get $2,000.00 off invoice (ha ha) that still leaves
$15,000.00.

Info. is from forddirect.com.

Don't forget the vinyl interior. Gotta love it on the hot summer days.

I wouldn't doubt it completely- I've read that Ford makes $12,000 for every Expedition they sell; that being the case- it only costs Ford 15 - 20,000 (Or less) to build an Expedition. That would spell maybe-what, $8 - 10,000 MAX to build an XL pickup?

If it is an 2004 (New bodystyle) F-150 that cheap, it's probably an F-150 XL stripper, No AC, AM/FM, manual windows, mirrors, 215/70/14 tires, cloth seats; basically, a lunch bucket...

I think the Heritage only comes extended cab, fleetside, 4x2, v6.

At the end of the year I wouldn't doubt it as much; but at the beginning- that'd be hard to find. I just watched a commercial where Ford is discounting 150 heritages $2,500, you put down $1,000 and they'll match it with a $1,000- giving you essentially $4,500. (In the background, they said you can get up to $3,500 on the discount.)

J-150 Jan 13, 2004 09:14 AM

did the ad state if these are brand new trucks? They could be demo units and have a few thousand on the odometer.

vocabulaic Jan 13, 2004 09:58 AM

A local place said "deals and rebates included" in the price of their new F-150s... Turns out the "deals and rebates" included working-at-that-dealership discount, student discounts, outside of a-plan or x-plan, and then you had to be within a certain age bracket, have a certain income, be in a certain tax bracket, and be trading in another truck and blah blah blah to qualify.

That's almost worse than the "$8,000 for any push-pull-drag-or-drive-in" "deals"

J-150 Jan 13, 2004 01:19 PM

this should tell you something about how this dealership conducts business.

If you look, you may find them listed in the "dealers to avoid" thread in the "dealers forum.

TXCoUnTrYbOy Jan 13, 2004 04:13 PM

its definately not a dealer to avoid, if anything, go to that dealer first. the dealer was ranked the top ford dealer in the nation so it is an extremely good dealer.

as for what truck, im not completely sure. i do know its gonna be with nothing extra added in it. dont know if they would be the heritage or new body, or if they are demos or brand new.
