Am I nit-picking?

Hello everyone,

First of all I would like to say thanks for this forum. It is wonderful. I really appreciate being able to read about everyone else's experience with their trucks. Most of the info on here is very helpful.

Let me say that I am not a Ford person, never have been. My dad has always driven Fords. All of my siblings drive Fords. My Uncle has worked for Ford for close to 40 years. I was always the oddball. I have always been a Chevy man.

When I decided several months ago to buy a new truck, I made up my mind to look at all of them. I looked at and drove ( in this order) the Chevy, GMC, Tundra, Dodge and the Ford. I saved the Ford for last because I thought there was no way that would be the one. The Chevy was very disappointing. They change the whole front end to look like a Avalanche (UGLY) and inside it was very plain and filled with plastic. I was almost ready to plunk my money down on the Dodge when i went to look at the Ford. I liked all of the Fords, but some of the XL's were a little plain for my taste. The dealer showed me the FX4 and WOW. I made my decision right there. I bought it that day. This truck is heads above all the other brands.

My philosophy is that if I am going to spend 30k on a truck I want the best there is for $30k. I feel that I have that in my Ford.

My friends and family can't believe I am driving a Ford. Hell, sometimes I catch myself looking out in the driveway to remind myself. Needless to say I am very happy with my purchase.

After reading all these post's about some of the problems folks are having. I find myself looking for all this stuff. So far not much to speak of. I took my truck in for 2 minor things this morning. A rattling in the dash, and my steering wheel was slightly off center.

Am I nit-picking or looking to hard? IMO $30k and the steering wheel should be dead center.

P.s. they gave me a Taurus to drive while they work on mine, It's a really nice car. I guess was narrow minded and never really gave Ford much of a chance. I suppose thats why they say "Have You driven a Ford lately"

hey, we all value thing differently, but I agree. When you spend 30k on a truck (or any vehicle) it should be, or better be, near perfect. So nit pick away. After all, if you do not fix it early the issue might progress into somethnig worse.

I agree with skiultr. Nit-Pick away while it's still under warranty!

Hey skiultr, I noticed the following in your signature: >>Unlimited 1 Year Premium (Inside & Out) Car Wash: $450.00<<

What's that all about?

My dealer gave me unlimited car washes for a year when I bought the truck. I take to the Wash Tub whenever I want to have it washed inside and out free of charge. Looks like his is the same thing. My dealer also gave me free oil changes for as long as I own my truck. I like both of them but the free oil changes for life impressed me the most.

No, you're not nit-picking. You're just looking a little harder on yours after reading about problems. It's human nature! However, for spending $30K+ on a vehicle, it should be darn near perfect if not all-together perfect.

Congrats on your purchase!! How do you like the silver color??

Check out my silver '04 FX4 SCrew with custom graphics in my gallery (link in my signature).

I really like the Silver. White was actually my first choice. I was impatient and didn't care to wait for an ordered truck. Someone else had ordered this one and canceled. I am very happy with it though. I especially like the black cloth inside.

From past experience I love the way a black or other dark colored truck looks, however they are impossible to keep clean looking.

A local full service car wash offers a 1year unlimited premium wash deal. I get the inside front and rear vacumed, window wet wiped, dash wet wiped and seats wet wiped along with full exterior clean & hand dry and tire shine too. Well worth the $. They keep it clean for me. All I have to do is bring it in. Takes 10-15 minutes total, usually. Oh, I add a few buck tip to the detail crew of 16-20 year old kids. They know me now and argue over who is going to detail my truck. This way I know they will do a great job.

Dealer gave me free lietime tires. I drive a lot so this works best for me. The catch is they must do the scheduled interval service. I have no problem with that.

when i worked for a ford dealership here in WI, i was the lot manager. sounded imoportant, and the fun part was that i got to bitch at the salespeople and they had to listen to me. anyways, once ina while i would help the guys in the detail crew out and we made damn sure that every new vehicle was perfect when it left our hands. i dont care whether it was an escort or an excursion, a new car is a new car. and that is the way i expect mine wheh i order/ find my 04 150

Nitpick away!

And a word of advice, don't send in your Ford satisfaction survey until you are 100% happy and everything is perfect.

There is alot more tied into those surveys ($$$) for the dealership staff than most people realize.

If you have something thats not right, tell your sales person about it and mention that you are waiting to send in the survey.

I guarantee you that things will happen correctly.

No I think Ford's/and your dealership's job is to make you happy and I'm glad to hear they're trying. I hope it all works out for you.

BashamFX$,

Any resolution on that rattle? Mine has a NASTY squeek/creak/rattle from the windshield/dash area whenever the temp goes below freezing (and here in the MN tundra, that's pretty frequent.)

The Screws in the shop right now getting torn apart till they can track it down. The service manger, the glass guy and several techs all heard it but don't know what it is. I didn't want to nit-pick either but it sounded worse that a 10 year-old Chevy Shakerado.
