Hey, my odometer stopped working

Hey, my odometer stopped working

i accidentally drained the battery one night last week and had to jump start my truck.

I noticed when i filled up this week that the trip odometer was at 0. ( iam trying to watch my mileage improve)

well, then i noticed that the odometer is frozen at 1785.3 miles

anyone see this?

I'm going to the dealer today to have a scan done. hopefully just an error code and a quick fix.

Don't be in such a rush. Wait awhile. You may need some extra miles for warranty purposes later on.

Ya. wait a while before going to the dealer. I'm thinking 2 or 3 years down the line.

my thoughts exactly. Rack up some mileage. Just keep a mental note of how far you have gone for oil change purposes.

I'm sure there's a computer that keeps track of the milage, along with everything else. It probably just stopped displaying.

We are all thinking alike, I would wait until the next problem appears, then take it in. You might gain as was said a couple of thousand miles on the warranty.

Man, I can't believe all the dishonest
people in this forum. I'd wait until I
had at least 35K miles on it. Right
before the warranty ran out!!

Well...you dont really know if the computer is tracking the miles or not. If it is a computer problem it is not tracking the miles. I would have it checked though. If it is the display and you wait too long...they may not fix it...especially if you go over the mileage...and the computer does pick it up.

Hey, i already have a 8% buffer because i put 33" BFG's on the truck on the way home from the dealership

i'll let you know if the fix puts mileage to reality or just starts counting from where it's at.

I would think this would really hurt your resale value. You have to state whether this is the correct mileage or not on the title. There is no way that I would buy a truck that didn't have the correct mileage, even if it's only off by a couple hundred, who knows how many it actually has on it.

And you have just broadcasted this all over the WWW to Ford. Better get your computer calibrated for those larger wheels/tires or you can kiss your powertrain warranty goodbye. Just a warning.
