Popular Mechanics Article rated our esteemed F150, average
That (Above) is what I've been saying all along...
Sure, the F-150 is nice- but so is that Titan.
Sure the F-150 will trounce it in sales- but be that as it may, the Titan is the F-150's only real competition in Truckland, when it comes to truckness (Made that word up) and overall liveability.
Of course, Nissan has to go the Chevyville, Dodge City, and GMC before it can even challenge Ford on a serious level- when it comes to sales. But in every other aspect- in the light duty market, there's only two real players under $35,000.
Ford F-150 and Nissan Titan.
Dodge started all this in 1994: Making trucks all nice & everything. Now, the game is to keep it still worthy of the title "Truck" but, make it every bit as nice as a car. IMHO, Ford & Nissan are doing that the best. Apparently, others think so too....

Have any of you clowns even driven a Titan? I went and saw one today and it is the ugliest truck I've ever seen. Please buy one if you like it so much, I'll be the one pointing and laughing at your hideous ride.

I saw my first Titan on the road on Monday, then I saw a black one today. Both King Cabs, I haven't seen a crew cab yet... Haven't had a chance to drive one yet either. I have some last minute gifts to go buy tomorrow, so I will try to swing by and drive both back to back, the F-150 and the Titan.
I live in Dallas, TX and I don't see a lot of 2004 F-150's on the road yet. Not as many as I expected with all the anticipation I've read about on this site. A couple down the street from me have a black FX-4 S'Crew, it's a hot ride, no doubt... I've seen one other '04 S'Crew, a few Supercabs, and one regular cab on the streets. There's a but load of them at the dealerships in Richardson, Plano, Frisco, etc.... My partner in San Antonio said their dealers only have one or two...

My Expy (I was about to purchase) parked next to a black FX-4.

I haven't driven a Titan yet either, but somehow I think if you get past the visual appearance - the selling point is the driving experience. I also agree that Nissan went more with the GM design approach and it does look a little too much like the Avalanche. Then, this is a new truck and Nissan has constructed a very expensive, brand-new plant (in the U.S. by the way) to build these trucks - a lot of the expense was apparently for easily changing and adapting their new truck to the customers' tastes and desires. Already, one version of the truck does away with the big chrome thing on the front - that helps. Those of you that think this new truck is ugly might want to keep watching - I expect there will be some changes coming out much faster than one might believe likely both on the outside and the inside. They nailed the drivetrain - the rest is easy. And, no - I am not ready to go and buy the Titan. And, yes - I do not understand why this website has a problem with us talking about the competition. Doesn't that breed a better product?
