Guys...I had to test drive a new Nissan Titan tonight.

Thoughts

Damn nice engine It pulls hard...but I dont think quite a hard as the 5.4 3v...maybe I am biased...but....

It is uglier in person than in the pictures It has no lines on it...just really hard to describe...bland to say the least...no where near as masculine as the F-150. Testosterone baby!!! :rocker:

Interior is cheap like many Japanese vehicles. F-150 blows it away for interior fit and finish. This actually surpized me a little.

It drives nice...handles real well, but even though dimensionally larger vehicle...it does not feel as big. It must be the slope of the hood line.

The rear door pocket is really cheesy. I can see that thing breaking off...good idea though

Probably the best comparison....it feels like what a Toyota Tundra (I have owned 2 of them) would be if it was a full size truck. Actually the Tundra seems faster off the line...I am still convinced that Toyota underates the HP in the Tundra. I will take abuse for this comment...but...the tundra 0-60 will smoke any of the big 3...but then it could not tow its way out of a paper bag...

Make no mistake...Nissan will sell the heck out of these things...but I dont think the people that buy the big 3 will purchase them. It is more for the die hard Nissan owner that wants a full size truck to pull their boat.

Final Thoughts

I had to drive it...curiosity was killing the cat. All said and done...I love my F-150 and would not trade it for the Nissan for anything. The F-150 just feels big and that is why I purchased it. I like not having the windshield in my face (Tundra and Titan). The interior is much nicer on the F-150...there is no comparison...and the Ford dash is just so much better laid out...quite remarkable.. Ford did this truck right...Yes...it is missing some of the things we would like to have...but what a hell of a truck it is...

The sales rep actually thought he could get me to trade the F-150 in...He was bragging about how great the new Nissan was. He sat in my F-150...and was like damn...this thing is nice...I think he felt the Ford was the better truck cosmetically. Of course...black on black did help..and so did the daystar lift..

Sounds like you almost sold the Nissan dealer a F150.

Hmmmmmmm, you test drove a Titan, huh. Well, Nissan dealers are not allowed to sell them until December 1, and the five dealers in the U.S. who have received an initial shipment are not allowed to show them until December 1, or they will face HEAVY fines and sanctions from Nissan. It must have been an interesting test drive.

Intersting you say that since the Nissan dealer at the Mall of GA has 2 of them. They have a King Cab and crew cab. I had no problems driving it and since it already had 200 miles on it someone else has been tooling around in it too. So..maybe you should get your facts straight or this Nissan dealer is breaking the rules.

There's a Nissan dealership next to where I work and I see the Titanics running around all day long.

dsemmen needs a lesson in marketing. The mall of Georgia dealer has 2 on the lot as of last weekend. I believe the dealers name is Sutherlin. They can test drive them, not "SELL" them though. I saw one of them sitting on the grass embankment in front of the dealer.
What can I say, the Titan is ugly. But then again some idiot will buy one. Hell, they sell the crap out of the Xterras.

The one sitting on the enbankment is the one I drove. It was the super crew...or whatever they call it. It was the tanish pink color, but then...the sun was going down at the time.

I copied and pasted a picture of a Lincoln Navigator navigation system on top of my radio through a program call Adobe Photoshop...it is just a graphic overlay. Look at my signature picture...the navigation radio is not real.

on paper the Titan is a solid truck. It has all that one needs.

There is no work truck package so this part of the trucks personality won't be measured.

They are going after the SUV set that never haul anything... not unlike some current buyers of Supercabs and Supercrews.

So will they sell it? Sure they will. The only question is how many will be existing pickup owners and how many will be coming from Explorers, 4 Runners etc

I'm so tired of people saying Scabs and Screws can't haul anything. The Screw bed is big enough to haul a pallet of stone, sod, bricks etc. Just because you can't fit an 8 foot piece of lumber in your truck doesn't mean it can't haul anything. The extra 1.5' you have really doesn't mean too much. It's funny how it's an ego thing for some people, like the longbed compensates for other shortocomings...

As for the Titan, I think your review pretty much sums up what everybody was thinking the Titan would be. Thanks for the info.

The one thing that has me humming and hawwing is the 0-60 times. Now I wouldn't dream of mistaking a truck for a sportscar, but 3 seconds slower for the F-150? That's a big blowout. OF course, C&D's numbers are estimated. I'm too lazy to look but are there actual 0-60 times for the F-150?
