Carguide Magazine Reviews F150....WTF!

OK, i get my Carguide Magazine in the mail, its a canadian publication, and they test the F150, so reading it, and its going on and on about the styling and the boxed frame and bla bla bla, and i get to the end where they have like a nutritional information box u see on food, Called specifications and at the bottom it states that the truck gets 18MPG in city and 27MPG on the highway!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!! gotta be a mistake, even the sticker on the window of the trucks don't claim that, they claim 17city and 24highway. Maybe with synthetic oil and no wind and skinny tires and a slight downgrade for 600kms. They tested the xcab lariat by the way.

Maybe it was in Kilometers?? Being from Canada?

Curmugeon 11-22-2003 11:29 AM

:D The solution is obvious! The article meant to say 18-27 KILOMETERS PER GALLON which corresponds to 11.16-16.74 mpg.

Kidding? Maybe, but closer to reality.

Imperial gallons, used in Canada, are larger than U.S. gallons.
"Gallons" are 4.54 litres in Canada vs. 3.785 litres in USA.

maybe your right about the canadian/usa gallon thing, but Curm.. is wrong, it states that the truck gets 15.5City L/100km and 10.5Highway L/100km next to the MPG claim. And i just did the calculation from L/100km to MPG and it is US gallons, which makes perfect sense because that would just be confusing to rate canadian vehicles with a different MPG than the states.

So ya, it must be a misprint or just wrong info on carguides part, no way in hell will that truck ever reach 27MPG or 24 for that matter.

Miles per Imperial Gallon

Article is talking about 18 and 27 Miles per Imperial Gallon.

1 mile=1.60935 metres
1 Imperial Gallon= 4.546090 litres

10.5 L/100 Km= 9.523809523 Km per Litre
9.523809523 Km/1.60935 Km= 5.917798815 Miles

5.917798815 Miles x 4.546090 L= 26.9 Miles per Imperial Gallon

15.5 L/100 Km= 6.451612903 Km per Litre
6.451612903 Km/1.60935 Km= 4.008831455 Miles

4.008831455 Miles x 4.546090 L= 18.23 Miles per Imperial Gallon
