Can't say for sure, but they do have a charger for the 96-2003 4.6L Mustang, so I'll bet they could put together a kit for the 4.6L F-150. Would be nice to boost the 4.6L 231 horse motor by 50%! Drop them an e-mail and let us know what they say. Think I recall red04 talking about adding one to his 4.6L truck?

Not sure about when the Whipple supercharger package will be ready to ship. But, I would suspect they are ready (or very nearly so) to ship, given the number of other similar applications they already have. Also interesting to note; they are using a Whipple supercharger on the 500 horse 5.4L 4V GT-40 engine.

As for price... Well, I would be guessing at that too. Having said that, my guess would be around $4,200 for the black one, and roughly $4,800 for the polished one. My guess is based on what they show for retail pricing on their web site.

No matter the cost, this baby has just gotta be the cat's meow of '04 F-150 mods and seat of the pants instant gratification!!

If you look at the bottom navigation bar on their web site there is a FAQ. Here are a couple of quotes from the FAQ that you may find of interest:

"One of Whipple’s main goals is to provide the most reliable systems available, this is why Whipple Superchargers go to such great lengths to get the systems correct. Nobody does more testing than Whipple. Whipple also utilizes a unique bypass valve design, which lets engine life be unaffected. Our system is so efficient and produces such useable torque, that you are rarely at full throttle for any length of time. When you are at cruise speed or idle, the bypass allows the engine to breathe normally, no boost. Only when you depress the throttle aggressively does the bypass close and you have an instant 6-psi of boost. The combination of our unique bypass valve and reasonable amounts of boost, engine life is not effected.

The primary cause for premature engine wear and failure are detonation and increased RPM. Whipple Industries supercharger systems integrate fuel system controls such as calibrated proms or interface computer systems. These management programs virtually eliminate any potential for detonation. Our superchargers deliver maximum power at a lower RPM than the engine did before supercharging. This low speed torque and horsepower enables our customers to operate their engine at a lower speed. This lower operating speed can actually enhance engine life and increase fuel economy."

"It is illegal for a Dealership to void your warranty simply because you have modifications to your vehicle. It is the Dealerships responsibility to prove that any modification was the reason for a failure. With that said, some Dealerships are more performance orientated and willing to work with customers. It would be our suggestion to consult with your local Dealership regarding their warranty specifics."

Holy crap

God I would love one of those under the hood someday. Something tells me my wife would notice the withdrawl in the checking account though. I prefer sleeping in my bed rather than the truck, so this may have to wait......

FoMo,

Do you know if Whipple will supply the tuning program(s) for this kit? I would assume it would almost be certain. As for other superchargers, I'm not sure which one Red04 was thinking of, perhaps a Vortech that his shop would customize.
