Rear Window Options

When searching inventory for 2004's on ford's website I found a few that show they have "Power Sliding Rear Window with Privacy Tint" and "Fixed Rear Window Privacy Glass". Can someone tell me what this means?

The power sliding window is operated with a switch on the dash. Fixed rear window with privacy glass doesn't open. I think they both have the save level of tint.

On my FX4 with SunRoof the Power Rear Sliding Window switch is on the roof of the truck, between the Map Lights.

I love my power slider. That plus the moonroof makes for great airflow and can remain quiet. Or, open all windows, roof, and slider for as close as you can get to a convertible.

The answer I was searching for was, how can they list both of these as options on the same pickup? They do, on several I looked at... And why is one saying privacy glass and the other tint? I was just wondering if the fixed privacy glass is refering to someting other than a solid single window. Anyone know the answer?

Because you can choose to either have a solid piece of glass as your rear window (option one) or have a sliding rear window (option two).

Fixed Rear Window / Privacy Tint is always listed on the sticker because it is standard equipment.

Chigg3r...note also the availability of a rear window defogger/defroster (but not with a power slider). I consider this option (standsrd on Lariat) the best $128 I spent in my climate of window fogging and frosting (no snow here).

Chigg,

If both items are lsited on the same vehicle, like I have seen in listings on Forddirect.com, then the fixed privacy glass is standard and the power slider is an option that replaced standard equipment. Forddirect's listings are kind of confusing that way. It dispalys the same problem for other replacement optinos, like it may list standard front bench seat and then list captain's chairs elsewhere.

Also, privacy glass is an option on some models so it could be listed as an option, but it would not list both that and a slider.

Thanks APT & Wolf, I bet that's it . Curmugeon, that's a good point about the rear defogger/defroster. I think I'll go with the power slider since I'm in Texas and defrosting is not a problem most of the time.

APT...just a technical note. Privacy glass is not an option per se on any model UNLESS coupled with the defroster or manual/power slider. Privacy glass is not an option on XL/STX models (solar glass is standard).
