STX goes in for warranty... Preferred Status???

To my surprise, my customer info at the dealer where I bought my truck had a "preferred status" and "preferred treatment" notation.

I came in at the same time an owner of a new 2003(?) F250 came in for service (with less miles than mine) and we got night and day treatment from the same advisor. He was asking if there was a possibility to get a loaner car and he was to be billed at $39/day. After he left, I told myself that it's probably a Ford thing - gotta pay for a loaner.

My service was finally written up... and I didn't even need a car but I got a rental car voucher automatically - without asking.

I told the advisor that I don't need it and end up paying the $39/day rental fee, and the advisor's response was "You have a star on your information which means you're a preferred customer... you automatically get a rental car everytime you bring your truck in! "

True enough, my copy of the paperwork clearly states "255 NOTE: Preferred Treatment" in one of the line items.

Anybody else experienced this??? This is the first Ford I purchased and I don't have any reference whatsoever with the dealer prior. The only thing I could imagine where I could have been different - Is it because I paid everything cash for mine?

Its a dealer by dealer thing. I can't speak for his dealership, but I'm guessing it works the same as mine. If you purchase here and get service here your going to get treated better than the guy who runs all over the state to buy and then comes in demanding warranty work.

Remember Ford pays VERY VERY POORLY on warranty work so the dealers don't want to do it. If you buy from them its part of the sale and they'll be happy to take care of you and usually go the extra mile. If you bought elsewhere you usually get the required coverage, but nothing more. My opinion is that if it wasn't too far to drive to buy the truck at another dealer, its not too far to go to get its waranty work done.
