price out what you want using www.kbb.com and their build feature. That will give you invoice and MSRP. You will probably get a deal close to invoice. Some people can get it below invoice, but I think $500 over invoice is reasonable. DO NOT PAY MSRP! If you special order I've found that you can get a better deal because the dealer doesn't have to worry about selling it. Shop around and good luck.
If you live in an area with competing Ford dealers, you should be able to order via a dealer's FLEET MANAGER for invoice less FDAF ($295). By avoiding the sales room hassle and personnel, invioce should be available to you. Don't pay sticker or any additional dealer add-ons. Worst case scenario...$200 over invoice. Even at invoice, the dealer still receives a 3% kickback fron the factory.
I had one on order for $200 over invoice but got tired of the runaround the dealer was giving me. I found one I liked at another dealer and bought it for invoice minus FDAF. I also managed to get 3.24% over 60 months.

I'm in eastern PA, ordered an FX4 Screw, all the goodies but leather. Dealer had no problem doing $300 over invoice, no FDAF.
Also no financing, which they make money on also. I guess it depends where you are. I personally wouldn't pay more than $500 over invoice. They still have 3.5% holdback on MSRP, 4.5% if they are blue oval dealer. You got to stand your ground.

I Ordered a 04 XLT Screw with captains chair , 3.73 LS, deluxe mirrors, and keypad entry for $31,900. It's my first vehicle purchase I'm only 23 years old. I don't need anything fancy for my first vehicle purchase. When I get more established maybe I'll get a Lariat like everyone else. I guess I rather have a XLT F-150 than another brand of trucks. I'm 23 year olds so I got time to buy a Lariat later in my life

Wow you guys are getting great deals. With an employee discount I got mine for ~1200 below invoice. If working for Ford only nets you $1500 less than what somebody off the steet pays, then Ford is really willing to deal on this one.
I paid 1% over invoice in September (which came out to about $300 on my truck). I highly recommend getting quotes via forddirect.com. Talk to several dealers. I'd also recommend reading http://www.carbuyingtips.com and using the price spreadsheet there.
