XM for 2004 part 2

Ok I noticed this topic was mentioned back in Aug but it did't answer two of the questions I have.

1) Are the new ford stereos Sirius(Satelite radio) ready or do you still have to buy an FM modulator?

2) If I activate service here in the US (San Diego) and drive into baja will it still work. I noticed a clause on their site that states they don't provide outside the US but the wording suggested that if they found out you activated the service outside the US it would be turned off due to legall reasons. Does anyone know the answer to this question or has drieven into Baja, Mex with XM or Sirius service? See the paragraph below that I copied and pasted from Sirius's "Service terms and Conditions."

c) Service Area. We offer the Service solely in the continental United States. If your service address is not in the continental U.S., your Sirius Receiver (as defined below) will not be activated to receive the Service. We reserve the right to verify any address you provide, and to terminate your Subscription and keep any payments you have made to us, in the event you have provided an incorrect service address

The clause which you have mentioned simply covers them from you calling and bitching about not having service outside of the US however; knowing the close proximity to the US, I don't think you'd have any trouble with XM or Sirius in Baja. The satellites do overlap over the borders to ensure that all of the US is covered...

Not sure about the modulator. I didn't realize that was how Ford was doing it.

I still love my XM!!! Oh yeah, and there's a $20 rebate available if I refer you... email me if you're interested. kingranchathotmail.com

I'm really curious to hear fromother users that have the service and gone into baja. I know there is some overlap, but with 8 geosync satelites I'd assume they could broadcast anywhere.

Has anyone gone far into baja past ensenda per say and still received service?

It also seems to me that the paragraph above is saying that you can't live outside the US and activate your receiver. Not because it isn't possible but because it violates some policy. Why else would they mention deactivation and verification of address?

OK, for anyone that wants to know here is the skinny on the XM radio in ford.

--Currently FORD doesn't have satelite ready stereos.
--FORD is partnered with Sirius not XM so in the future they will be Sirius ready not XM
--The FCC is now mandating that all receivers made by a certain date be both XM and Sirius compatible(not there yet but in a year maybe)
--If you want non FM Modulated satelite radio you need a new receiver.

I still don't know the range into Mex but will let you know when I go down this weekend at least 100 miles in or so.
