Arrow Some Observations

I've test driven a couple of Lariat 4x4s and FX4s now and noticed something that I wondered if anyone else has picked up on. When driving the trucks over driveway gutters or pretty hefty bumps, the steering wheel shakes from side to side a bit. Nothing alarming like it's gonna be torn outta your hands or anything, but quite noticeable and unusual to me. My '97 SuperCab doesn't do this. Do you think this is a result of the change to rack and pinion steering gear?

On another note, I drive by one dealer everyday on my way to and from work. Of the 7 or so '04s they've had now for about 3 weeks, they've sold 1. Interesting. I tried to make a deal on a SuperCrew, but they didn't even want to start negotiations at invoice, would only start from the MSRP. It wasn't a problem for me as the truck isn't as fully equipped as I want, anyway, but it's no wonder they're just sitting there.

From the other dealers that I haunt, it appears to be pretty much the same story. They've all said they've had lots and lots of lookers, but no buyers other than the pre-sold units. It'll be interesting to see September's sales figures. I'm hoping for some year-end deals myself.

It still seems like I have to give up too many things on this new truck. Getting four regular doors will be nice, but without a fold-out flat floor in the rear when the seats are up, it won't be as useful as my current SuperCab. The loss of the underhood light bugs me, too, as it's really been handy on several occasions when camping and when jumping other people's cars in the winter. The new trucks are very nice, but it's frustrating to have them come so close and then just barely miss the mark of full utility.
