build time?

This too has probably already been addressed, but just how long does it take to build a Supercab from start to finish? How long is it on the line?

Thanks ~

For actual ASSEMBLY of the truck, I'd guesstimate it to be on the order of about 5 hours from Body Drop until End-Of-Line, then maybe another hour or so until Pre-Delivery (after water test, etc...). I've not been to Norfolk Assy in many years, so don't recall what their throughput (line-rate) is, but I remember it to be a quick line (high volume product et al)... -- I only estimate this based on my experience at Louisville Assy Plant with a production line rate of ~75 veh/hr (U152/UP207, Explr/Sprtrc lines -- also high volume).

Note that estimate is only ASSEMBLY. I do NOT know about body manufacture timing! (Have never worked in Body/Paint). That probably takes much longer. Consider the time it takes to weld each sheetmetal part together, grind/finish joints, dip, dry, prime, paint, cure, etc... A foggy shot in the dark guess would be perhaps a few days, a week maybe??? Don't know tho...

Also, as this [F-Series] is a framed vehicle, the two parts (body assy, frame assy) are assembled as much as possible separately, then about an hour before End-Of-Line, the Body is 'decked' to the frame and the rest of the truck is assembled after that (brake line connect, tires/wheels, batt install, fluid fill, etc...)

What's fascinating is the intensive timing/coordination of many different 'unit-specific' parts that end up meeting the exact vehicle at an exact time -- In-Line-Vehicle-Sequencing (ILVS). Its amazing to me that so many different pieces/parts/assemblies/subassemblies are SO scattered all over the Assembly Plant, then conveyed/delivered up, down, under, over ALL over the place, then meet up w/ the right unit at the right time. Incredible. Computers. Wow.

Again, Estimates only... but I am sure someone from Norfolk or Kansas City could enlighten us w/ actual NAP/KCAP numbers.

Cheers.
