Ford ESP Prices - Your input!

I was quoted the following for the Ford ESP Rates on a 2004 F150 FX4 SuperCrew:

ExtraCare
7/100 - $2590

Premium
7/100 - $3080

Anyone else get quoted better or worse rates?

From what I understand Premium is pretty much "bumper to bumper".

This prices seem a little high compared to what I payed for my Explorer Sport Trac Warrranty.

Does anyone know what the "invoice" or markup is on these ESP plans? I would like to know how much I should try to talk them down.

Thanks,
Scott

Those do seem alittle high. Last year I paid like $1500 for the "Extra Care" on my wifes explorer sport.

Are those from your dealer? The markups on ESP's are very high. The prices you listed are list prices, like MSRP. Check out www.fordesp.com amd www.fordwarrantycentral.com for some good prices.

Way too High!

I found out that the ESP is negotiable justs like your truck! I got my 5/75 for $750 in June. The dealer I spoke to previously quoted me $1600. And, it is the full bumper to bumper for 5/75.

Yes those seem high. We sell 7/100 Extracare (New F-150 4x4) for $1690 and Premium care for $2,080. It does vary based on where you live though. Some areas ESP costs more. This is due to a couple of things. Legal stuff I don't understand and another that I wish we had. In a few states, Ford HAS to pay retail rates on warranty. In the others they screw the dealer by not paying fair markup on parts and using labor times that are rediculous. Now the dealers are getting states to protect them. Ford is responding by surcharging in those states. This might be the case in your bid.

I am a little miffed that "Extra Care" even exists. Most new cars are now offered with 50,000 mile warranties and some (even relatively failure prone Volkswages) offer 100,000 mile warranties. Why can't Ford do better from the factory?

Thats one way to look at it, but myself I'd rather see a 30 day warranty and a much lower price. That to me would be even better let those who want the warranty pay for it, and those who don't don't have to. The 100,000 mile warrantys are in the price of those vehicles that have them, don't think any car maker will give something for nothing.

Can I buy an ESP from any state and use it in NJ?

I believe if I buy the "Ford" warranty from anywhere I can use it at ANY ford dealer.

Is that correct?

Yes, with a couple of exceptions. I believe Florida is diferent (don't quote me on this), but otherwise I think you can buy ESP anywhere.

Just checked and you don't have to pay sales tax on a ESP if bought out of state (over the phone, internet, etc) either.

Thanks Guy!

2040 F150 FX4 SuperCrew

The prices I got from my dealer in NJ was:
PremiumCare
7/100 - $3080 + Tax

The Price from FordESP.com was:
PremiumCare
7/100 - $2278 + NO Tax

I also found out I can get a 4/100 for $1665 (which will work out much better for me)

Ummm.. I wonder what i'll do..

Thanks,
Scott

Can the ESP be purchased anytime after I take delivery of my truck? I ordered it 7/11 and have no build date or ETA for delivery... what's a guy to do?

You can purchase a Ford ESP any time from date of delivery until 3yr/36k miles, under factory warranty. However, after 1yr or 12k miles, there is a $100 surcharge. It requires the VIN so no buying before you have a build date. Actually, you might as well wait until you are close to the 1yr 12k period or 3yr/36k since you still use the OEM warranty for the first 3/36.

The only other thing is pricing. Ford used to come out with new (higher) prices each year. The price list we're currently using is dated January 2002. I've been told to expect a new one sometime this fall (Ford Credit rep thought Oct-Nov). That may raise prices (but could also lower them).

I don't think there will be a major increase, but I do expect another $50 jump (but rumor is Diesel warranty's may actually go down a little).
