End of Sept

I 've been advised by dealers that:

- Ford's goal is to get first batch of '04's to the dealers by end of Sept. Production will start on June 16 and they will be stockpiled until Sept. Dealers will get several (in this case @ 4) and dealers will not get to choose the models (chassis or level) but will get to fine tune the option list.
- Only 40% of production for '04 will be Supercrews
- There will be no 7700 for model year 2004. Will return for 2005 model. Dealers are advised to load up on '03 7700's.
- Availability will be somwhat limited for first few months after initial batch.
Ordering guides (& prices ?) should be in delaers hands in April sometime...

(Some old news, some new news...)

When you say you have been advised by dealers do you mean you talked to a couple or were you at a meeting?

That almost sounds hard to believe but I won't doubt anything any more.

That would work perfect for me. Thanks for the information.

Sounds good...but what are 7700's? Also, are they only going to make 40% supercrews initially or throughout production. But if you think about it, that means Reg cabs and SCrews each take 30% of production, which is less than supercrews. Hope that makes sense.

7700 is a regular f150 thats beefed up for bigger towing and hauling. Youd have to ask an owner to be sure but i think its like heavier suspension in the back and 3.73 gears? Something like that. Just to give you an idea until a more knowledgable person comes along.

Thanks, I just cant belive Ive never heard of the 7700's. I thought it might have been one of the special editions, but the beefed up suspension makes sense.

The 7700's are what was called F-250 in '97 and '98. In '99 or 2000 Ford stopped calling them 250's to avoid confusion with the Super Duties.

Great! I never understood why they were making F-250s in the 1/2 ton body styles. Thanks for clearing that up.

Is there no 7700's since the new package is 8200? I believe this was listed on pickuptruck.com. Here's what they list in the specs:
Wheels:
Standard 17-inch, available 18-inch and 7-lug with 8200 Payload Group

http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/auto...ord/specs.html

I hope it comes out since the lease on my 2002 7700 is due up in Feb 2004.

I'm almost positive teh Ford media guide I receved in Detroit said 7700. I'll have to double check. In any event the heavy duty F-150 will be delayed until the 2005 modles arrive. IF I were you and I have a lease coming due in Feb, I'd run to my dealer and get some answers directly!
