Guys,
I remember checking the 04 specs on the screw in overall length and they had 224.5" or something like that. I checked the current screw specs and it is 226.2". What gives, is the truck actually getting shorter now? Any help/info is greatly appreciated.

I think it was just the front overhang that was reduced. Passenger compartment and box are the same.

actually according to Motor Trend Magazine....the new F-150 has six more inches of leg room for the rear passengers in the supercrew....and that 2" difference is probably from where they boxed the front end...nothing taken away from the cab

Im hearing no V8 with 5 speed at least in the first couple years.

So what the hell am I left with now. 4 door or X-cab truck with decent sized bed, big engine, 5 speed. Tacoma's bed and Sport Trac's bed look like shoe boxes. Wont consider the frontier until it has an engine that doesnt need a supercharger just to make enough power to be barely competetive with othercomparable trucks. I always thought the Dodge Ram was a way heavier truck than it needed to be just because Dodge wanted to give it big, brawny styling. Silverado no longer has a V8 with stickshift and I refuse to get the base engine in any pickup again. High demand will probably push the new GM compact pickups out of my price range if they first come out right when I'm looking to replace the Ranger. The only real option I see right now is a Dakota Quad Cab 4.7/5 speed. I dont want to defect from Ford right now but the Quad seems to be the only truck on the market configured like I want. Anybody know if the F-series will eventually offer a small V8 and stick again in an extended cab? Any other options Im not thinking of?
