The Rear end on the 2004 F150 and Engine and flareside

Is it just me or does anyone else not like the reare end on the 2004 F150. I loved the rear on the 2003 f150 supercrew. Does anyone else think that ford should release a new engine in the 2004 f 150 becuase they are lagging GM and Dodge on that end. What do you all think of the flare side on the new f150 is it just me or is it really ugly. I think Ford could have done a bit better on the design but it might just be my opinion.

I could never figure out why they put the narrow tailgate on the SCrew ('01-'03). Why not make it full width? I'm not a SCrew owner though; maybe the reason would be obvious to me if I was.

As for th '04 .... I'll have to see it in person to say for sure, but I like the pitures.

The Super Crew uses the tail lights from the Step Side.
These lights are wider than the ones on the regular bed trucks.
So to make them work, they went to the narrow tailgate.

No I don't like the new flareside as much as mine.

i've only seen one pic angle of the new flaresides where i liked it

the current flaresides look good from any angle  :D

The Super Crew uses the tail lights from the Step Side.

I guess my take on it was:
They didn't need to use those tail lights or taper the box down tho the narrow gate since the SCrew isn't a flareside.

It's just a styling thing I guess, to each his own

I noticed something last night while looking at a pic of the flareside. The bumper has a dip in the middle that expands the length of the rear taligate. This makes the tailgate look twice as tall as the old style. I am liking this new style less and less, although the SuperCrew has grown on me somewhat. Hopefully some of that will change at production time.

I love the new flareside, I'll definately be one of the first ones to order a lariat flareside I just hope I can get the lariat in the yellow!

I don't think the flareside will be as sporty. Especially when you can't get a (regular) regular cab. short trucks look more sporty.

AVOMCD:

Excellent point, none of the new truck (except) the Lighting look sporty at all. I bought mine because it looks sporty and I dont need the LONG 8' bed. Some guys actually use it and thats fine but it's sad that the only Sporty truck you can buy from Ford starting in 04 is the Lighting.

I'm sure the look will grow on me over time.
