Only V-8's!

Talked to the dealer I know, and the 2004's are only comming with the 4.6; and the new 5.4. The 5.4 has 365tq and 300hp so Im there in a year!! no v-6 or deasle o well, I wish I has a 8 right now anyways....

I wanted a V-8 anyway. But, whats the scoop? I remember Dodge did the same thing at first. No V-6s and they offered the V-8s for free. Will Ford do the same? I am curious about this one.

what about a manual tranny? i have read nothing about one being available? does ford figure with all the new fancy stuff that they can do without the 5-10% of us who want a 5 speed? heck might as well leave the spare tire off too, only about 5% ever use it:confused:

You have a truck with a V8, you have a joke with a V6. That is my opinion.

Bingo!

the problem is that V8's are not free. They are buried in the price.

So what about those that need a no frills work truck with a base engine?

Or maybe Ford has decided that the 4.2 is a lemon.

Maybe they decided since most folks go for the V8 and a V6 sits on the lot for a long time they would drop the 6 that most folks don't want.

my 99 XLT SC with a V-6 manual is just perfect for the wife to drive around so dont knock it too much

F150NKY Jan 9, 2003 01:56 PM

Maybe they will wait and the 2005 model with come out with a 4.2 L straight 6

Hmmmm, a new L6 three valve FI motor on the way?? Something is coming but hasn't been announced yet, I bet? Who knows...?,,,,98

Hey if Chevy can bring back the straight 6, why can't Ford?

Guess you live in a closet, never heard of a 4.2 (V-6) beating a 4.6 (V-8)?

That ain't no joke...

I will admit i do not know a lot about the inline 6 that chevy has, but i sure do miss those. Those old inline 6's from the past always lasted forever.

98SCREAMER Jan 10, 2003 12:44 PM

That was the major problem with them, they lasted forever!;),,,,98

Please correct me if I am wrong but I was under the impression the inline 6 was pretty good at developing torque. Then again I may be wrong I never was much good at impressions.
:p

I had a Jeep Cherokee with an inline 6. It was a solid engine. Had a lot of power.
