while it's pretty hard to follow a post about masturbating to a truck, yes that truck is awesome. i've thought the new f150's looked pretty ugly, but that thing is great. not as pretty as ours, but yes, great just the same. plus 500hp! and that supercool system! independent rear suspension! and the best part: 6 speed! oh ****! how fast can the tuners get that badass into the 10's? how much are they cause I want two

Just my .02 too much.
I agree the sex appeal is gone.

Remember it is just a concept right now and by the time it goes into production I am sure they will soften up the lines. I do see a lot of potential in the concept, but it still needs a lot of refinenment. I still would like to see a automatic and that interior is plane ugly.

Doug or Steve

Please put this topic back on the Lightning forum where it belongs, it will get lost here. If it is back on the Lightning forum more Lightning owners will see the concept and make comments.

Also SVT reads the Lightning forum and will see our opinions.

Please this is one thread that should not be moved.

The yellow interior is a bit much.

Im suprised the Prototype info is out before the NAIAS in detroit..

Ill get some close ups in detroit...

We need to adjust to looking in this forum for info on the 2004 . That is the way Steve has it setup... Im sure SVT can adjust ..

Those lights on the front are killing it. It looks awesome from the front of the door back except for the ugly wheels. It needs new headlights and new wheels adn i am in. Gotta pay for this one first. ..............

no more 6 speed for the real version?

originally posted by Gregg Evans @ NLOC
The six speed manual is already dead, it's just for the concept. It'll get either a Torqueshift 5 speed auto or a re-engineered and heavily built up 4R100. ( A factory built Monster Box)

I still say they are too damn boxy...none of the nice lines that make the gen 2 lightning look soo good, but you cant argue with the specs.

And the interior is definitely a step up.

Too damn boxy is right. Is it just me, or is the styling of the new Lightning concept more appropriate for something from the GM model range? Don't get me wrong - this is a cool truck! I like the overall design when I consider it as an individual styling exercise (in a vacuum by itself), but I'd be stretching my imagination if I said it looked like it belonged to the Lightning or even Ford F150 "family." Maybe I am analyzing the design too critically, but I think the new Lightning's sharp edges and creases more closely resemble a Cadillac Escalade or CTS, than any Ford I know (the Focus maybe). Which really bothers me for some reason. I've always enjoyed the expression of "heritage" in a vehicle, where the next model generation carries over some styling cues from the previous one. Not that the Gen 2 borrows many design elements from the Gen 1, but this 3rd gen has really dropped the soft muscular shoulders of the Gen 2 in favor of cold, chiseled corners. Too bad because I think a lot of people really liked the sexy curves of the Gen 2 design. But I guess I'd have to blame the basic F150 redesign for getting more edgy - the SVT stylists only had so much to work with this time around. The regular F150 doesn't look half-bad, but the SVT version is a little too crisp.

For those that don't see what I'm talking about, consider the following photochops I made and decide or youself if this thread could have just as easily been titled "2004 Cadillac Truck Pics!"
