driver's door not unlocking

ok, so when I use my keyless entry, about 90% of the time, it doesn't unlock the driver's door. you can see that the lock pulses the little stalk that sticks up, but it doesn't lift up. If I unlock it with the key, it is just fine. lock with the key, or fob is fine. and unlock with the door switch works as well. just unlocking the driver's door with the fob is 90% doesn't happen.

If door switch unlocks door as intended....but FOB activation does not....then you got electrical issues above my grade. I'm not sure how the "module" activates the doors but I would assume it is based off a relay ..SOMEWHERE.

It tries. You can see the stalk move up, just not enough. And it drops back down. I think it is a mechanical issue. Possibly binding.

Mine was doing the same thing via the door switch (never replaced the fob when it died). new lock motor is like 50$
BEWARE of your production date as they made some "updates". The new motor my not LOOK exactly like the original but...it all works.
BTW...piita to get to. but still an easy job, IIRC door panel (2-3 screws) then lift UP...not OUT...lol
do not do during COLD weather...the lil plastic rod locks will break

my door switch works all the time, with no issues

it is only the fob that sometimes doesn't unlock it

maybe I will just take it apart and clean it up. see if it helps

i need to drill out a rivet?

Fbird Oct 7, 2019 01:17 PM

should be simple screws....from the door jamb. IIRC . its the entire lock mechanism. Yes I would think you are loosing voltage from the fob activated relay to the door lock motor. I would think they BOTH simply ground out a hot relay, surely they wouldn't use 2 separate systems..

Yeah, that makes sense. But why only with the fob? And sometimes it works just fine. Battery is new, and seems to start the truck really easily.
