2001 f150 replaced headgaskets now runs barley
Went as planned until i started it. It barely stays running.
was getting codes of egr low flow, lean banks 1 and 2 Checked coils ok, new plugs. Coil connecters getting 12.v and pulse on ground. While running so poorly i can disconnect wires to coils 2.3.4.5 and 6 with no change in the barley running idle. Cleaned iac new cht sensor. No help there. Checked for vacuum leaks none found. Im at a loss HELP |
What engine?
I would guess that the camshaft timing is off especially if it was an OHC engine. |

Head gaskets
Iget 150psi compressio test. Im really stumped
|
Compression may be fine even if it's out of time.
As asked before, WHICH ENGINE? |
You have two codes that tells most of the problem.
Lean banks are codes 171/174. There is a vacuum leak causing it. You missed it. Did you use the correct intake gaskets? The 401 code is either a hook up issue or a fault. There may be other issues but work out what you have indicated first. The rest you did is of no value. The motor is a v6. Good luck. |
Head gaskets
Its 5.4 2v
|
|
Ok on the 5.4 v8.
I assumed incorrectly it was a v6 if you played with cylinders 2 to 6 on a coil pack. No difference as it does not prove anything. Vacuum leak, out of cam timing etc. Should have paid attention to these things. Now you have to take things apart all over again with it's associated expense and labor. I say these things because many other have made the same mistakes. Those who read this thread before doing the same should get the warning. We cannot tell you exactly what is wrong since we don't know what all was done or how it was done... You just have to go back over all the work.. Good luck,. |
