1998 4.6 liter V8 will not start when engine is hot

1998 Ford F150 4.6 liter - The symptom is described as not starting after the truck warms up; it will turn fine, it runs fine, no OBDll codes. It always starts fine when its cold or has been sitting for an hour. Any help would be appreciated starting with the cheap/easy things.

Please be more specific - what happens when you try to start it? Does it crank? If so, does it just crank without starting? If so, what happens if you hold the pedal to the floor?

It cranks strong but will not start. Dido if I put the gas pedal all the way to the floor. Wait an hour or so and she starts right up. If I spray either into intake it runs weak until burnt off.

It might be your IAC.

Have replaced IAC. Thought it fixed it but problem came back.

As a side note, pushing the pedal all the way to the floor cuts the fuel when you try starting it. How about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way to the floor?

Only other thing I can think of is low compression when warm. I'd suggest doing a compression test of all cylinders.

Most auto parts places let you rent this tool for free.

That doesn't make sense to me. Runs great when hot and no loss of power. Just will not restart when hot.

Try it with your foot on the floor. You may have leaky injectors and it's flooded.

If the injectors are leaky, they will dribble fuel into the cylinders till the fuel pressure is all bled off. Sitting for an hour lets the fuel drain past the rings into the crankcase. Pull your dipstick, if it smells like gas that confirms this.
