End of an Era

Sold my 2001 F150 Supercrew last week. I drove it to work almost every day for over 18 years. It had 7 miles when I bought it and 278,000 miles when I sold it. About 100k was pulling horse trailers. The only major repairs were the differential and front suspension. Let's see if my 2018 Supercrew can do that well. |
You got your money’s worth out of it. Hope the new one is just as good. |
your 2018 should be close to double the fuel mileage too!!

Double? Really? My 02 got 16mpg driving 80mph most of the way on an 800 mile trip. I checked it on two different occasions. So, the new one should get 32mpg? I don't think so.

Still looked like there was life left to that truck.
Hopefully the new owner will get at least another 100k of happy miles out of it. It's funny you mention the major repair work done was front end. My '07 Jeep Compass marks 5 new front ends and 2 new rear ends. :) Luckily I can do all of the work, except for the computerized alignment. But I can tell you, if someone didn't have the skills, they wouldn't be able to afford a Compass (or Dodge Caliber, same vehicle) in terms of repairs. Heck, there's one sitting a couple streets down that is in immaculate condition, but the whole front and rear is shot and shops want upwards of $2 - $2.5k to fix it. You see the parts are cheap as dirt, but shops kill people in labor! Shows you the durability of Ford trucks and America's toughest road conditions. |

My 5.4 2001 got about 14 mpg mixed and 16 highway. I was actually going to replace the windshield and the sunroof gasket and keep the truck for 20, but the Lord sent us a very large unexpected blessing. The truck was in such good shape, the first guy who looked at it gave me my asking price without a test drive. Ironically, I can't tell you the fuel mileage on my 2018 because I've only gassed it up once. The week after I got the new truck, the boss gave me a company vehicle to drive to work. The only time the new one moves is when I take the horse somewhere or run to the lumber yard. We're heading to NC to visit the grandkids at the end of the month, so I'll find out then.
