Front differential bolts won’t line up
I am new to the forum . I am trying to install a new front differential on my 97 F150 4x4 . Everything came out ok but when I go to reinstall the new differential, the bolt holes don’t line up so I can install all 3 mounting bolts . Is there a trick to this ? I’ve tried putting front bolt in first and then tried rear bolt but it seems to be about 1/2” off .
Any suggestions ?

Looking into this from Ford Docs, I see the 99 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator are (all wheel drive).
The parts blow up shows some differences along with the notes above.
As to the mounting, It is silent about that.
Are you sure you have the non Exp/Nav, F150 front assembly?
Being non vacuum operated on the EXP. and NAV, I would assume there is 'no provision' for a Vacuum Actuator on the passenger side housing.
The front hub engagement is vacuum operated similar to 04 and later trucks.
The operation of 4WD/ AWD is different between them..
4WD may use the Vacuum actuator, the AWD may not.
AWD may 'modulate' the front hubs with vacuum control on a full time basis as the PCM determines from speed sensors/slip.
What do you have?

Thanks for the reply . I figured out what the issue was . Apparently, the cross member was bent from some fool “this guy” , going 4 wheeling a while back . I hit a large rock I think and bent it out of place . I think that is what may have started the whole issue with axle and differential. . Once I replaced the cross member from one at the junkyard , it bolted right up . Now my next issue is trying to get the torsion key out. Lol . The shock mount broke so I have to replace lower control arm .
