I have a 1998 ford f150 triton v8, The engine has a lot of miles on it and i was thinking about changing it out soon but i wanted to know there are any newer model engines or what other ford engines are compatible with my truck.

 

How much money, time and experience do you have?

If looking for just a straight swap, any 97-98 reman will bolt right in. If you want to change from a 4.6 to a 5.4, there might be a bit more involved, but for the most part, I think you can still get reman engines for those years.

If you want to put a 5.0 Coyote in it, it can be done of course... Just depends on my first paragraph.. You could put a 460 in it if you wanted too.. But the same thing applies.. Heck, put a 3.5 Eco in it....

What are you really wanting to do in the end?

The only 100% direct swap is the same displacement, 97 or 98.
