What do y'all think about lifting a 2wd
 

I have a 2wd 2002 f150 xl sport and was wondering if I should get a 3" suspension lift on her. What do y'all think? I have 16" tires and was also wondering if I could run bigger without problems.

It's too much money just for looks.

not worth it.

Just use a taller spring and lift the front, give it a leveled look and leave it at that. unless you off-road and need the extra clearance, don't mess with a full spindle lift

I have a 2.5 leveling kit up front. Made a hell of a difference. Cost me about 75 bucks.

Lifting a 2wd is like dating a retarded girl. Your friends are happy you're getting laid but she's still retarded.

How do you feel about a lowered 4x4?

If you don't need articulation and travel it has its place.

I lifted my 2wd because I wanted to learn and I don't see myself getting a new one anytime soon. It was my grandpa's old truck and I got it when I was 16 so it means a lot to me. If you love the thing then go for it, you won't regret it

Years ago (mid 80's), my brother bought this old Dodge SWB pickup that had a 4.10 traction lock (sure grip?) rear and manual granny gear transmission. He jacked it up and put HUGE tires on it. He said he could go anywhere most 4x4s could go. it was just a toy for him. He pulled the 318 engine and installed a 360. He had lots of fun with it charging through the woods running over saplings!

I'm sure that was very helpful and exactly the kind of opinion the OP was looking for.

OP, in my honest opinion, if you don't need 4wd and are doing it just for looks, it's your truck and your money, so it doesn't matter much what others think.

I agree with 2008_XL If you don't need the 4X4 and are doing it for looks or to learn go for it.

Really depends on what you're doing with it. If it's just for looks, and you have the money, probably best to save your money. Now, if you're doing something a little more extreme..like me. Sure.

I'm currently in process of tare down on an '02 F150 2wd crew cab w/ long bed. Will be tubing the rear, tubing the front, Kroyer Racing engine (455ci, 700hp) and Kroyer tranny (4L85), 70"w 9" rear, HM Racing designs long travel kit, Fiberwerx flared besides and front assembly...etc.
