Transmission question
I have seen online and talked to some people about if I lift my 2001 F-150 xlt v8 4.6L 4x4 and wanna put 35s on it I will have to regear my truck and I wanna know if there's a better way from preventing this or if 35s won't bother my tranny. Might as well get a new tranny instead of regearing it

The whole idea of regearing is to ease the load placed on the transmission from the tall tires, which changed your drive ratio.
Sure you could drop a new transmission in, but you aren't solving your sluggish acceleration, decreased fuel economy, and you'd just be straining a new transmission. |
If you don't want to regear, your trans won't last as long as it would have. And of course your truck will feel like a turtle. It will have to be rebuilt more often, unless you drive it easy all of the time.

With a 4.6, you definitely need lower gears than 3.55 if you put 35's on.
