cranks but won't start
My truck and me had a crash . I bent frame and bought a 2000 truck for a frame donor. I got done switching all the 2003 parts over on the other frame cab , box , wiring harness , motor . Used the trans. And transfer case from 2000 made it shift into 44 on floor instead of dash . Hooked all connectors back up and reset inert a switch .she will crank but not fire up. I have power to the fuel pump and great pressure at fuel rails . I have power at the injectors and the coils . Called dealer he said the computer may be in theft mode and that I won't be able to get it out I'd have to have him hook up his laptop to it for him to set it to good. This sound right ? All I did was disassemble everything and put it all back together on a new frame. By the WY my gauges also sweep but I'm assuming that is because the battery is low from cranking trying to start. My truck ran fine before the accident . If this needs the dealer to reset how much do you think it will be he told me 88.00 dollars. How long does it take to reset electrical system. To make engine run?

There is no reset to be done.
Look for a problem with the crank position sensor and inspect for harness issues etc. Why; Based on your report the injectors and coils have power and fuel pressure is up, it's likely a plugup issue. The crank sensor must signal the PCM to begin all functions for starting and running. To check for PCM operation check for coil or injector pulsing. The crash sensor is closed and fuse good or the fuel pump would not run. The start circuit is ok and the PCM is powering up, or the fuel pump would not start or engine crank over. It's not PATS or the fuel pressure would not be there. . Can't tell you just what to do but just need to hunt it down. After you find it it will make perfect sense. Good luck . |
