Heater core hoses

Heater core hoses
2000 4.6l F-150 4x4
I don't think water is flowing through my heater core as one of the hoses doesn't get hot and only a small amount of luke warm air comes out of the vents.
Is there an easy way I can check if the water is flowing through the core?
Which direction does the water flow to the core, from the hose off the front of the engine?
Also where does the other hose go from the core it disappears towards the back of the motor and finally where the hoses go to the heater core at the firewall how do you disconnect them or can you?
Thanks in advance

To my knowledge the hoses are sort of a quick release type hose, that require a special tool to remove.
From what I can tell, it sounds like your heater core is clogged up.
If you use regular heater hose in the replacement, your going to need the following.
5/8 Hose
3/4 Hose
5/8 to 3/4 heater hose adapter
The engine connections are 3/4 and the heater input/output is 5/8.
Or you can just get the OEM versions.
